Hello All,
I was told that this is the place to ask. I just bought a military HMVEE. Its a 24V system. I have found a place (OKoffroad.com) that sells converters. Seems easy enough to run 12v appliances like a phone charger, GPS etc... But the back of the truck has a connector for the trailer lights and brakes and its also 24V:
1. how would I convert this?
2. where could I find a military style connector to a standard flat 5 trailer connector?
Need help!!! 24v system and need to tow a 12 v trailer

Did you manage to get a license for it from the Department of Motor Vehicles?

Hello njlondon - did you get a IM from me? I didn't see it in my outbox... so I guess I'll reply in public.
I basically asked why you're scaring me <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> ??
I bought the truck in BC where it was previously plated. It seems to be road worthy. I drove it back in under 50 hrs - had some problems, encountered some great people and always managed to continue. I'll know tomorrow after emissions and safety. I'll be heading straight to the MTO and completing the transfer and maybe begging for a plate and sticker...
Why do you ask - do you think it will be a problem?

No, I didn't get any message from you.
And I certainly didn't intend to scare you.
I was just curious if it was plated here or not.
I have heard it was difficult to get true Humvees plated in Canada, however if it was previously plated in B.C. I guess it should be accepted here.
Let us know how you make out.

Done and Done!!!
I got her plated yesterday. They had an issue with the short serial number but a quick phone call and it was taken care of. She's an Ontario resident now.
I found some places in the US that sell 24 to 12 volt converters and even a 24 to 12 volt trailer adapter. Does anyone know of a place in Canada that carries these sort of things?

Did you buy this from Winn Automotive in Kelowna? I was dealing on a tan hmmwv from them but they sold it out from under me. I was kinda leary of the salesman there anyway and I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason so I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
As a side note, Norm it is not difficult at all to get a true hmmwv plated here in Canada as long as it was titled in the US. I brought a hmmwv in from San Diego in 07 and had no problems at all.

Hey EJW
If you're in the GTA let me know and we'll get together. I usually do work on my H1 Wagon at the airport in my hanger. Maybe I can help with your 24v to 12v problem. I made some calls today and just waiting for calls back.

I just remembered also that Private Jets run on 28v and have equipment inside that run on 12v. Checking with my tenants now and get back to ya.
