Hello everyone
I'm trying to plan a full day event for September 05/2009.Hopefully we can have enough people interested to have another B.B.Q. that would be good
But i plan on taking all new trails with you guys.Of coarse we will be heading out to wiaporous again.
Ill try to have a time set as soon as i can.I was thinking we could meet in the parking lot across from Tim Hortons in Cochrane again. That seemed to be a convenient place.
Ill keep you guys posted as far as a time goes.
I hope this date will work for everyone this time. And with any luck we can have a few new faces again.
Thanks
Brian

Sounds good to me!!!
I just lifted the front end via the torsion bar that we talked about and what a difference! Maybe even get the Toyo's by then to!
September 5th - I'm in!!!

Hey Khamul, awesome job on the torsion bar lift, feels great, doesn't it? I inadvertantly discovered a problem that you may want to address before you break anything on the front end. After this last Waiporous run I discovered that I had popped the pass. side half shaft rubber boot off of its mount. No problem I figured, I'll run it to the Calgary HUMMER stealership. Since the torsion bars have been cranked, taking it out of what they considered to be the factory specs (factory ride height), they wouldn't repair it under warranty, (and wouldn't put a warranty on any new work unless I had them crank the torsion bar height back to stock and get an alignment--I told them that wasn't going to happen-KMA!). This was a part that my HUMMER dealer in Salt Lake had replaced only three months earlier. I called Salt Lake and they laughed that Calgary wouldn't perform the repair. I ended up shelling out $500 to have a new boot put on with new clamps and am headed to the Salt Lake dealer this week where they will submit the repair cost, including rental car costs, to GM for reimbursement. The Salt Lake HUMMER customer service is absolutely incredible!
The moral of this story is that if you break front end parts with the T-bars cranked, Calgary will not repair it under warranty. You may want to talk to some other dealers in other towns to see if this will be a warranty issue.
Now that I'm back in Utah, I have full coverage with Salt Lake and no worries.
If it wasn't a 14 hour ride back into Waiporous, I'd be back for the 5 Sept. run with my t-bars cranked ready to run. Woo-hoo!

Reply - good to know..... I had been advised by National 4WD that they wouldn't have cranked the torsion bars either and would have gone with the new keys.... Thinking about heading down that route... especially now!
Thanks

You don't need the T-bar keys!! I bought a set after reading all over the forums that you didn't need them, but felt that I wanted to do the lift the "right" way. When I got the keys, Pro Comps, I was extremely disappointed at how loosely they fit on the ends of the torsion bars, very much like putting a large socket on way too small of a bolt head. Alot of slop. I didn't want that on my truck, was wondering how much clunking I'd be hearing. So I took the keys back and cranked the T-bars as-is, then got an alignment. Rides like a champ. Just make sure to pick up a set of the 1/2" bumpstops to prevent nose dive. You really don't need to drop the $300 on keys, use that cash for the new Bilsteins and bump stops.

Also, the warranty thing won't matter if you use keys or not, they flat out won't back it because it's not at "factory" ride height--they were adament about that.

Oh I know - The Canadian side of GM are idiots and bloody anal and will take any excuse to not cover anything under warranty... pretty pathetic if you ask me.
I want to go ahead with the keys for a couple reasons.... the Pro-comps weren't rated that high... I ordered the ones from ready lift as they have a 5 star rating - reason being is that it won't put any added wear and tear on the front end components.... but more so...i am also putting new shackles on the back so if I get the same lift via the keys...I can also adjust the torsion bars from there to get the perfect ride.
i have to admit - i like how it rides better with them cranked down so I think this will be a perfect ballance of them both...
Wish you were coming on the next ride!

Re: Alberta, September 5
Well, I went and did it last weekend---got crazy trying to climb a hill and broke a 14mm inner tie rod and took out the half shaft with it. I've got a new half shaft that I'm putting in tomorrow, and still waiting on an order for the newer 16mm tie rods that it seems the newer 3's have, but the early 06's didn't get. So $700 later, and I'll be back on the road.
Trust me, I wish I was going to make this next run with you guys, I really had a blast running the trail and then kicking back and lighting things on fire that night. Good times.
I did learn of an H3 owner that my in laws are renting a house to, he wants to get involved in the forums and HUMMER things. So I'm going to work to get him on this forum and hooked up with you guys. Hopefully he can make the Sept. 5 run, that would be awesome. It's another white 3, so he could fill my spot until I can make it back out.
