Hello all, i know this may sound kind of silly, but i would like to be able to drive my H2 hummer into the Green P parking lot where i work.
However there is a heigh restriction.
Has anyone out there ever lowered their H2, by cutting springs or changing tires? I need to drop by about 4 to 6 inches.
I would like to do this ofcourse economically, I am not doing this for fun, just for practical reasons.
any comments would be greatly appreciated.
regards
Steve

Steve,
Stef is right, the best idea would be an alternative method of transport that fits in the garage....maybe even getting an H3 would fit the bill.
As to lowering your H2 economically...not going to happen, you are going to spend at least $5000.00 just on parts never mind labour!
Hope this Helps!

Re: Can I Lower my H2 Hummer
Ok so I have researched it a bit and it is possible to get you about three inches lower but it will still cost $$$$
First if you have roof rack rails, remove them and you'll gain about 2 inches, remember you still have your clearance lights so even though the crossbars are more than that your roof isn't perfectly flat.
You could change your tires to a LT285/70 R 17 to replace your stock tires, however you will only lower the H2 by 1 inch <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
There is a smaller tire that would allow 1.5 inches but does not have the load carrying to be able to sustain the H2s heft!
Next you could play with your torsion bars but you will need to replace the keys to acheive the drop and you will need to pay careful attention to alignment issues! In the rear you will have to replace the coils with shorter ones as cutting coils is a very unsafe pratice and you also change the spring rate which affects ride quality.
Now I still hold to getting an H3 as a City Hummer for the Parking garges or some other vehicle, since this project will definitely hold some special suprises!
Hope this helps!

If the roof rack has been removed, how about if you need only to lower the H2 by 1 to 2 inches ?

If you need only one inch, you can de-tune your torsion bars and and recalibrate your air suspenion to a 1" lower ride height. If you don't have air suspension then there is no way that you can do this without changing out some parts.

Everyone has different looks they want in a vehicle, taller, shorter, one colour, blinged to death....if you want to do it , you got to pay for your wants...definitely will not be off roading with the lowering.

Re: Can I Lower my H2 Hummer
thanks for all the points and comments.
this was all an effort to use my h2 as opposed to keeping it stuck in my parking spot at home.
i have decided to sell it!!!
