New from Trois Rivieres

Post by 1650shawn »

Hi everyone.I joined the club because I WILL be an owner of a H1 in the near future.I'm hoping for a bit of guidance in choosing my ride.I will attempt to buy one from the states .It is a rebuilt SALVAGE 2001 soft top selling for $22k US.Do you think I wll have a problem getting a SALVAGE across the border? The owner says he rebuilt it and is in very good shape.

Just got one from the states. Make sure the title is good to cross. Not sure about the salvage title. You must be trailering it home.

If you need any guidance, let me know.May be able to help.

As far as I can remember from importing my H2, RIV does not allow vehicles with a salvage title to enter the country.  If may be allowed if the vehicle was refurbished and had the salvage title removed (only an available option with certain states if I'm not mistaken).  I would follow the advice listed and check with RIV.  If you have the VIN and call the number that they give you for allowable vehicles to be imported, the person can tell you if your vehicle would be allowed to be imported into Canada.  Hope that helps.

All you need for winter is:

--block heater after -10'c --should be one from factory

--strong batteries

--good winter boots as the heaters suck for the drivers floor <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

--a hat so you can let the moisture out(from your breath) so the front window does not frost up as much-use of electric front defroster is quite helpful <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='8)' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='8)' />

--extra time needed to warm her up from cold.

--oil change with 0-40 oil or so

-and lots of patience waiting for others to get out of your way!! <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/grin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';D' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/grin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';D' />

Thanks ROYS.Feeling better already.lol about being patient in a snow storm.I drive a Nissan xterra and have learned to be patient.I am a member of  xterraquebec.com. I've wanted a H1 for quite some time now.I love offroading. This summer,we did a trail in St Agathe, just north of Montreal, and crossed paths with a H1.I've been searching for one ever since.Do you know of any good web sites that sell H1's.I am a member of THEHUMMER EXCHANGE and check out E-Bay quite often.
