Purchasing advice..buy with lift or not?

Post by Waldo »

Went out to a local Hummer dealer and test drove a few 3T's, and decided on an alpha. But the issue is they had a "project" truck on the lot that I test drove, I really enjoyed it. 4" tuff country lift, BUT they had the chrome package on it, minus the grill, big chrome wheels 37" bfg at's. They were asking $58,000 CDN for it, I think WAY to high.

2009 H3T Alpha

-cloth

-sunroof

-backup cam

-offroad pkg

-colour match grill

-Slantback will be included in the deal

-Carbon flash

Southgate's add-ons

-Tuff country lift

-chrome handles and mirrors

Should I go for it?

I went into look at an alpha gloss back, no chrome, matched grill, slantback, offroad, sunroof & backup cam, planned on doing as much black as possible because I can't stand chrome. The pricing was alot better than I'd been seeing and I seen this truck and thought it would be a decent thing to jump on if possible, but after seeing the final price I'm insistant it's too high of a final price. Thoughts? Opinions?

Ok, the 37s on the H3T will kill many parts of the drivetrain especially if you plan to offroad but IF these items are dealer installed then they have to cover ANY part that breaks as a result regardless of what it is or how many times it breaks! Normally 35s are the Max for an H3 but if they will cover it then I say go for it!!! <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/grin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';D' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/grin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';D' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/grin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';D' /> Looks like a really nice truck!

The salesman and parts manager assured me that the lift & all of its components are covered with 4yrs/80,000km warranty.

My Biggest issue is they said it has never been driven, yet it already had 485 km, when I jumped in to test drive it, I work for a GM dealer and very rarely see a new truck leave the lot with higher than 60-80kms.

I've got to play phone tag with him this week while I source some wheels I like. The Ultra's that are on it, I REALLY don't like, mostly because of the chrome and they're really narrow.  Would like something black from KMC XD series. The wheels on it are 22"s I don't know if I'd stay that big or not, but if I could get something I liked I might, then keep the stock rims for actual offroading.

I'd also need steps, because even though I'm only 5'9, the bottom of the door is at 2" below my waist, I don't like the GM ones offered, the N-fabs I've always liked, but fear they'd even be too short.

could be this H3 was driven to a specality shop for lift and wheels ( ie Queensway and National 4x4 for lift and wheels ) then test driven and set up.

Pretty nice all that stuff gets tucked under the warranty

I bought an 09 H3T just recently; the I-5 manual version though w/ the adventure package. I paid 32K... I think they cut me a deal to get it off the lot.

That price is to high!

I would like to see the all black with slantback.  That one sounds good, what are they asking for that one?

Brand new Member and I'm hoping somebody can tell me where IN CANADA I can purchase a hard case spare tire cover for my H3. I live in Western Canada and the majority of he Dealerships here order them from the US. I thought maybe someone here could point me in the right direction.

Best bet is to try dealers both Hummer and aftermarket listed on Hummernetwork in US. many are reducing stock and giving great deals right now I'm orderin new fob casings for our remotes from One cost is 25 dollars U.S. each much cheaper than total replacements here.

Well Unfortunately I didn't buy the truck, I went back a few weeks ago after it got cold and test drove it a bit, the suspension creaked and groaned over every little bump, and the thing had almost 700km on it to boot, and they refused to negotiate pricing at all.

I may go back in a few weeks and look at non-lifted truck with the same options.

You will probably enjoy doing some of that work yourself, I think the dealership is asking for a pretty big premium for those extras.

From what I have been reading the creaking and groaning is often coming from new torsion keys. It sounds like some shops have been greasing up the T-bar where it gets inserted into the key and that seems to resolve the problem.

Mine was actually creaking and groaning a bit too after, instead of pulling the keys back out I just sprayed a little WD-40 to get some of the dirt out and it went away.
