Maybe I should check out synthetic rope prices... I really do want the 12,500lbs winch.
How much for 100' of synthetic rope from pull master with a breaking strength over 20,000lbs?

Re: Which winch is the best???
I came across a pretty sweet video today, they tested 7 winches under strict guidelines (although it is a Mile Marker video, so you can guess who won).

Re: Which winch is the best???
I like the new version Warn for the HMMWV [24v] and h1 [12v].
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufbS0SxbNTQ
It's pricey though, the complete kit runs 2-3 grand depending on how much profit margin the reseller is adding on to it.
I'm planning to go with that kit next year, the US military overseas has been swapping out the milemarker hydraulics for these in the field a few years back.
The hydraulic has its advantages, the oem h1 model does not remove from approach angle, can run 100% duty cycle, but it requires the engine to be running.
I rather put up with the cooldown of the electric and have the advantage of running it with the trucks engine disabled or upsidedown. Situations where a hydraulic winch would be a paperweight. But that's just me <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> So far I'm doing fine with a friend and a tow strap.
