the only taxes I paid when importing an 01 in Ont. was the gst at the border, the RIV on line, and the pst

no other taxes or bills till the safety and the emissions....

All you need for winter is:

--block heater after -10'c --should be one from factory

--strong batteries

--good winter boots as the heaters suck for the drivers floor <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

--a hat so you can let the moisture out(from your breath) so the front window does not frost up as much-use of electric front defroster is quite helpful <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='8)' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='8)' />

--extra time needed to warm her up from cold.

--oil change with 0-40 oil or so

-and lots of patience waiting for others to get out of your way!! <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/grin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';D' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/grin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';D' />

[/quote]See I don't understand this my truck only needs a block heater after -25 and I run 15w40 all year

This is really driving me crazy. The H1 I bought will be delivered to my brother in Maryland next week.I have been trying to find a way to drive it back.I have tried every way I know to get a plate for it before I go down and get blocked every time I try.The only way to get a plate,or even a transit plate from Canada,is to have the import document stamped at a border crossing. The owner turned in his plates and cannot get a transport plate in the US,at least thats what he's telling me.So,if I try to get one on my own there I have to have the vehicule tranfered to me and pay the state sales tax(6%)which I will not do just to get a $20 transport plate. My last option is to have it transported.Any one know of a cheap transport company?
