I'm shopping for insurance for my new H3. I called my existing insurance company and they told me that they would only insure my Hummer if it had a car recovery system, and they mentionned Boomerang only. They won't accept the GM ON-STAR system.
Doesn't this sound like a scam?
Have any of you had any similar experiences? They have good prices but I may have to go elsewhere. If any of you Quebec residents have references, please forward me the insurance company name and phone number.
Either via the forum, or via email (at Guy@Brouillette.com).
Thanks,

Re: Hummer Insurance In Quebec
I live in Ontario and we have a H3, insuring it thru Intact insurance company was no problem, no questions asked! I recently called to get a quote on a H2 for myself (H3 is the wife's) and again no problem and same money as my current vehicle an Avalanche. It seems a little extreme to only allow the Boomerang system, I could understand if they insured the vehicle and offered you a discount IF you installed a security system.
However insurance companies know you have to have insurance to drive and if you don't like our rules go elsewhere.
I have a raging hate against car insurance companies!!!!

Thanks, Guys,
I have started calling elsewhere, and they don't force you with a car recovery system. Some will offer a discount if you get a Sherlock or Guardian marking. I'll make a few calls. I understand Guardian markings are smaller than Sherlock, but I will check.
Too bad I will dump my long-time insurance company.

I have had the same insurance broker for 27 years, my insurance came due in March and I told them in January if I don't like what I see they will get kicked to the curb in a heartbeat.

Boomerang is a crap product invented by Bell and then given to a dealer who has a free ride. If the insurance company insists on Boomerang it because it is a made in Quebec product and they have an interest in the company. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... oapbox.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':soapbox:' />

My 2008 H2 was insured by La Capitale Insurance and they honored the OnStar. Give them a call.
