I am currently exploring some trails that are just west of Ottawa off of HWY 7 at Dwyer Hill road. Check out the map that I have posted off of Google. The trails as of last night are still somewhat snow covered and are not too extreme but good fun. There is a clearing for a Hydro line where lots of trails run off into the woods. I was there last night and had to remove a few limbs off of trees that had fallen across the road. I do not know the area that well as I am looking for places to off road. Let me know if you know of any in the Ottawa Gatineau area.
They are not too extreme but it is easy enough to get stuck. I want to go there this weekend (depending on my kids hockey schedule) and do some more exploring.
Currently I have been following other vehicle tracks. When you are looking at the attached map starting at the bottom center, near where the scale is, there is a service road that heads north east for a few kilometres and then does a left turn, and meanders over to the hydro line clearings. At that bend there are quite a few trails, but I have not explored them yet. It is still a bit to early for those areas.
Check it out, and please let me know if there are any other good spots in the area. Hope to see you all at the HUMMER rally in St. Sauveur.
Cheers, Sean

Re: Ottawa / Gatineau Trail Riding
Tentatively, Saturday April 17th would be good. This should give me more then enough time to do an initial recce of the area. I am going back out there this Sunday to check it out some more. I was out there last night; it looks like a good place. Nice area, could hear the howling of coyotes as soon as the sun went down. I will scout out a good clearing to set up a bonfire to roast some wieners!
If anyone in the local area wants to join me this weekend let me know! I am going to go out there around noon on Sunday.
I ended up getting a little hung up last night while I was turning around near a tiny trickling stream about 6 inches wide. Turns out it was about 4 feet wide. Got out easily enough.
