The ARB lockers are the way to go - been proven in many many trials and have always come through with flying color. The ARB compressor though seems to leave alot to be desired from what I've read...

Hey all,
I was considering coming out to the May 1st event but it would be my first time 4 Wheeling in my H2. Could somebody give me some ideas of what I could expect and prepare for.
Thanks,
Mike

Welcome aboard Mike.
Waiparous has a bit of everything, but it shouldn't be any trouble for a stock deuce. There's a few mud pits along the way that can be sticky if you're just running all terrain rubber, but there's almost always enough room to go around them. It's recommended that you take off the side steps as they tend to drag a lot in the muddy sections and can get damaged easier then most people would think. You're also gonna want to set aside a few bucks for a thorough wash after...
There's only a few things that you absolutely need:
a Hummer (or a reasonable hand drawn facsimile)
a lunch
a few cold refreshments of your choice
and a sense of adventure.
The amount of support gear others bring varies; but I usually carry the following:
30,000 lb recovery strap
4 x 7/8" shackles
2 shovels
Axe
Squeegee
Fuel 20L extra
Water 20L
Coolant 4L
Oil
Wrenches and Sockets
Spare fan belt
Rubber boots
Change of clothes
Sleeping bag
Booster cables
Jumpstart Battery
Onboard Air Compressor
First Aid Kit
Gloves
Bottle Opener
Pink Skate Laces
Still Camera
Video Camera
GPS
Ipod
and a few other things I'm probably forgetting.
The group is pretty laid back so you shouldn't have any trouble keeping up and everyone is always more than helpful if you do have a problem.

The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Re: May 1(Alberta)
Hey Mike, I wheeled my stock H3 a few weeks ago in Waiparous with the tiny 32" tires on intermediate trails, so I'd have to say you'd have no problems with a stock H2.
The only thing I can add is, be prepared for a few minor scratches as it's not always possible to avoid the tree branches. Nothing a little wax won't take out but it's bound to happen. When considering things to bring just keep in mind your comfort and safety!
Other than that it's waaaay too much fun!!

All sounds great. My oldest daughter is moving out on that weekend so if she is moved in by the first then me and the Mrs. should be there.
