Now, does all this span from that hole where you red lined the rpm? (or very high based on sound) as that's what did it for the power steering pump. One thing I have witnessed (yours included) is that GM engines do not like the high rpms... I had a lumina sport once and I was playing around racing one day.... it was never the same again... eventually scrapped it..
I never really put 2 and 2 together until now.... but still may be coincidence... (Never been a GM fan.... but I LOVE my Hummer!)
Did the tech ever give you any explanation as a seasoned mechanic can usually tell things by how they break, and where etc etc...
Well that was likely behind the power steering pump failure... but the rest of it makes no sense and they didn't really an offer a reason why almost the entire driveline was failing. He said that maybe if water had gotten into the transfer case it caused some issues with the chain, but it seems more likely there was some serious quality issues with some of the parts.
The plan is to drive it for a few weeks and see if any more issues come out of the wood work.
