ARB FOREVER!!! On August 08 no rust save where it got attacked by a jeep and a boat trailer. Bolts all fit yes some cutting drilling and sodiering required but happy happy joy joy. PS that attack would have destoied the stock bumper. Even had holes to mount lights.

I finally got some good news yesterday; after over a month of trying to get problems resolved with Road Armor, the owner of the company Mark started dealing with me directly.

He basically said that the 12K winch capacity was a typo on the website and the actual capacity was only 9K. He went on to reccomend a couple of 9K winches... although I was quick to point out none of the winches he mentioned fit for the same reason as the 12K winches. I think that caught him off guard a bit and after I sent in the pictures of the rust that has been foruming he came back and asked me to get a quote for how much a local fab shop would charge to modify the bumper for a 12K winch and also have it powder coated again.

So while this is far from over, it looks like at least I won't be flipping the bill for the work needed.

I am stopping by to see a fabricator today and get a quote for everything.

So the Hydraulic winch is back on the project plan! <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' />

I was supposed to meet up with the guy this evening, but the fab shop was dark. I am guessing he forgot, I will have to swing in the morning tomorrow.

My e-mail today:

Hi Mark,

I stopped by the fabrication shop at lunch today; he came out and had a look at the bumper and what options we had to fit in the winch. He said while it would be slightly cheaper to relocate the winch mount about 2" to one side, he had concerns that it would not be pulling squarely on the frame; instead he recommended to modify the structure on the driver side to allow for the long end of the winch to fit. He estimated that it would likely run between 350$ to a maximum of 500$ for the work.

As far as the finish goes he mentioned that he does not powder coat coat any of his clients off-road parts, he instead sends everything out to be "Rhino lined". He said my bumper would run around 300$ or perhaps a little bit less for the finish, however he is sending a larger order out for lining in March and he would be able to have it done for a discounted price at that time.

Basically in summary his estimated prices are as follows:

350$ to a worst case 500$ for the modifications

225$ to a worst case 300$ for the lining

(Please note that these prices are in CAD and not USD.)

In order to proceed any further, I would have to order the winch and give them some time to actually take the bumper off the vehicle. Before I get into doing anything more I wanted to get your feedback to see if you felt if the prices and proposed modifications are reasonable.

Please let me know when you have a chance,

Regards,
