Alberta South Exploratory Run

Post by karlairey »

I am planning an easy Trail Run into the foothills south of Kananaskis to see what's out there. I just found out today there is a heck of lot more trails than I originally thought. The area is called Racehorse Creek and/or Dutch Creek. All the offroad trails branch off the Trunck Road that runs between Hwy 41 in Kananaskis and Hwy 3 in Blairmore.

I have located an outfit here in Lethbridge that has mapped the area for quads and trucks. So will consult with them in a day or so too.

The date will be October 2nd (or possibly the 9th, I will confirm in a day or so).

Let me know if you'd like to come Exploring with me and a buddy who drives a modified Land Rover.

Sounds good. I will come unless my work prevents me from going. I am going camping in the Dutch Creek / Old Man River Group Camp site tonight so I will do some scouting as well. The area is about a 75 minute drive from Lethbridge. My co-worker who previously worked with the Fish & Wildlife in Lethbridge is going to get me a bunch of detailed area maps of that area. She also added to be carfull as that is were they released all of the problem bears........If I may suggest a staging area. We could use my parking lot at Eclipse Massage & Spa on the West side. It is by the Tim Hortons West location. Just a suggestion. It's not my show.

Glad you're both coming! Oct. 2nd works best for me.

Let anyone else you know in on it too... Rob please contact me when you get back so we can make plans together. 403.320.2202

For any Calgary Crew: We can meet at this point:

If you zoom in and look north, you will see 532 coming off Hwy 22 about 35 km south of Longview. You enter there climb over a summit, then head south on 40. Or take the long road and meet us in Coleman. Totally up to you. If you want to take 532, I'd be happy meeting you there and come over the summit together...it's a great road!
