For sure Picture would be good,, since If I look under the hood it seem cramp for a second battery, although it would prouve very usefull when plugging extra equipment on 12 volts plugs around the truck.

I like Dual Battery capability and always had them setup in my pickups, just added second battery in my Chevy and still have to run cables but bought factory second battery tray from dealer.

I know many were installed for campers, etc using an isolator for charging and have seen the diodes blow from boosting using a set of cables from one to the other, then down the road ran both dead because the isolator no longer isolated so I prefer a continious duty solenoid.

I would like to Dual my H2's but not a lot of room and the Wrangler system is pretty expensive even though it does include the cabling and Switch and solenoid. Looked at the Chevy system and it is the same tray I bought with a sticker on it and two bolts added on the side to mount the solenoid. I can buy my own solenoid, cabling and switch a lot cheaper, but that is just my opinion and I do my own electrical anyway.

I would like to be able to just buy a solid battery tray and hold down and do my own wiring, but I have always custom wired my own equipment.

Look forward to pictures of what they will look like and I am sure others would as well.....

Very true as there isn't much room at all, don't forget - A good alternative to the dual battery set up is to upgrade to the odyssey Battery which from what I understand is significantly better than stock.

Mine's fairly new but that's what I'll be doing fairly soon anyways and probably be looking for a bit bigger tray at that time to fit a bit larger battery as my Honda's battery is about the same size as mine...

There are many good reasons to consider choosing a single Odyssey battery upgrade. Don't think this is like going to an Optima; this is much better. Deep cycle and very high output in one unit.

I won't rehash anything here, but if you are curious just search the forum for Odyssey.

(I run two in my H1.)

Sorry for delay in the response my Brothers and Sisters to the North... 1st pic is of the until w/ plain top installed in a H3/T Alpha, second is what the H3 version would look like, and you can use your imagination for the H1 & H2 models, third is my install that I already did w/ the larger size (Group 34) Dual Optima Red Tops, I have them mounted on overlapping billet mounts so they actually take up more room...

Here is the initial point of contact between me and the vendor rep at Artec Industries...

Hello Hummer owners. Thank you for taking such great interest in our

product. We are very excited to offer this CUSTOM product direct to you for

a group buy. Here's how it will work.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION VERY CAREFULLY.

We will be offering this mount in a black powdercoat finish so that we can

get as good a deal as possible. This finish is phenomenal looking and is

very durable as well. Since the powdercoater charges by the batch, we will

have to have more mounts than this group buy can probably provide before we

can get them powdercoated to get these great prices. Depending on how many

people sign up for the group buy, the lead time for shipping out the mounts

will vary. The more that commit to buying, the faster we can get them to

powdercoating. More on that later

We will be able to provide options for the style top that you would prefer

in you mount. The logos available will be H1, H2, H3, H3T, or our standard

window style top. If there are any other logos that would have significant

buyers that are not shown here we can probably do those as well.

We will also provide this mount for both group 34 and group 25/35 Optima

batteries for the same group buy price. YOU MUST CHECK THE MODEL NUMBER OF

YOUR BATTERIES TO VERIFY THE MOUNT YOU GET. Just saying "it's a red top" is

not enough because there are many red tops and some group 34 batteries are

also available in blue and yellow tops. Your battery model number will

either have a 34, 35, or 25 and that is the number you need to know. Click

here to see the various different red tops available.

http://artecindustries.3dcartstores....ting_c_60.html

Lastly, these mounts have only been confirmed to fit in a H3T. Please

understand that by purchasing this mount, you understand that we are not

responsible if the mount does not fit in your vehicle. Returns will not be

accepted if this is the case. Here are the dimensions for both style of

mounts so you can verify that it will fit.

Group 34: Outside dimensions of mount: D 9 7/8" x W 15 3/8" x H 8" (Height

does not include terminal posts on battery).

Group 25/35: Outside dimensions of mount: D 8 1/8" x W 9 3/8" x H 7 1/8"

(Height does not include terminal posts on battery).

PRICING and LEAD TIME:

The original mount sold for $100 plus shipping. For group buys we will offer

the following pricing. Quantities are for number of mounts ordered not

number of people ordering.

Qty 10 group buy - 10% off (so $90) with a 4-6 week leadtime but possibly

longer. Basically it's so long because we'll have to wait until other

inventory gets low to get a good price on powdercoating. That may take a

while since I just got a batch back last week.

Qty 20 group buy - 20% off ($80) with 3-5 week leadtime but possibly longer.

Same reasoning here, but we'll just have to wait for less inventory to sell

through before we send in another batch.

Qty 30 group buy - 30% off ($70) with 2-3 week leadtime max. I don't need to

wait to send in a batch, but I'll just need some time to make them all and

then time to powdercoat.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Here's how it'll work. Basically, if you are committed to buying a mount,

you will register on our website under a specific group called "Hummer

group". Registering under this group commits you to entering the group buy.

A group buy doesn't work if we get people to commit and then people decide

to pull out of it at the last minute. That screws everybody over. I'd rather

not have to ask for a deposit for group buy registration so be honest, or I

might have to. Once one of the above quantities are met, I will make the

product available to buy at that price on the website and only Hummer group

members can buy it. I will be updating on the forums what the current

quantities are at so we can try to get others to commit to get as good a

deal as possible. Sound good? When you purchase from the website, it will

calculate shipping for you and you can even buy other items such as another

battery or hardware for mounting the battery mount. When the items are back

from powdercoating, I will ship them directly to your door (that will be a

long day:) ).

STEPS:

1. If you are committing to buying, register by clicking on the following

link. http://artecindustries.3dcartstores....ister.asp?cg=1

2. In the comments field during registration, please type the NUMBER OF

MOUNTS YOU WOULD LIKE.

Once we have enough commitments, I will make the product available and

email all Hummer Group members the product link to purchase.

3. Login to our website.

4. Click on the link to the product. Choose BATTERY MODEL NUMBER (Group

number), and the style of top you would like (H2, H3, etc.).

5. Add any other parts to your cart such as Mounting kit hardware or a

battery.

6. Checkout. Shipping will be calculated and parts will ship once they are

ready. Shipping times can vary and are not part of the leadtimes quoted

above.

I will keep in touch with all customers regarding the progress of

their order and inform them of any delays through either email or

newsletter.

That's it. Sorry it took so long to explain but I wanted to cover all the

bases. If you have any questions, please contact us through the website

here. http://artecindustries.3dcartstores....tion=contactus and

be sure to indicate that you are asking about the Hummer group buy.

Thanks,

Nate Price

Just my input regarding these trays from what I read so far.

They do look nice but based on what was written as quoted below:

Lastly, these mounts have only been confirmed to fit in a H3T. Please

understand that by purchasing this mount, you understand that we are not

responsible if the mount does not fit in your vehicle. Returns will not be

accepted if this is the case. Here are the dimensions for both style of

I am more concerned with two things, first that it will actually fit in my H2 and second that it would try and utilize (if possible) the factory mounting holes or at least the area to re-drill if required. The factory tray is nothing special, but does have a recessed area allowing for a bolt and washer usually combined to secure the tray in place where the pic shown and the other i did see on the site as non of the links apperaed to work, only showed holes predrilled that require the use of a countersunk screw or bolt that would need some type of allen head or torx head driver to install or remove them. Due to moisture, rust and corrosion that could be a problem in the future if they require removal for any reason.

I want to know obviously that the battery will be secure which these mounts appear to be quite able to do, but with our H2's it is not like any of us have area in the back to just bolt down a second battery box in the box like most custom offroad 4x4's generally do.

They are nice looking battery trays for sure but I would rather know I am spending my money on something that was test fitted to ensure when it says H2 on top that it actually was designed and confirmed to fit in one and not just say H2 on the top.

Just my opinion but each person has different needs or priorities and having H1, 2 or 4 on top is a nice touch but if I have to redrill additional holes just to try and make it work if I can get it to fit, then it defeats the initial powdercoating process that will just have to be touched up with spray paint or silicon to prevent rust and corrosion with any new holes needed to mount it solid in the limited room under the hood.

I have had my tray out in my SUT when I wired in lighting and power outlet for winch and boosting capabilities in the front and there is not a level surface that 8 bolts could be put in according to the pic shown of the one mount in this post.

Look forward anyway to see who does order one and pics of install. I can't at this time commit to a group buy based on speculation that it may fit.

I would buy one for sure if I knew it was actually designed to fit the H2 and utilize the 4 existing mounting holes that the factory tray uses and not just have the name on top.

just my 2 cents anyway........

I went out and measured my Battery area as 10" (TIGHT) from the rad support to the Underhood Fuse Box and from the Left Fender to the edge of the rad support mount above the upper rad hose as 13 7/8"

Attached pic shows the Rad mount that will affect the length or width depending how you look at the Dual battery box when mounted as well as the Module mounted down below that sticks up the same height as the existing battery tray.
IMG_0247.JPG

The measurements given for the trays are as follows:

Group 34: Outside dimensions of mount: D 9 7/8" x W 15 3/8" x H 8" (Height

does not include terminal posts on battery).

Group 25/35: Outside dimensions of mount: D 8 1/8" x W 9 3/8" x H 7 1/8"

(Height does not include terminal posts on battery).

That width measurement of the Group 34 would only fit if there was NO upper rad hose and rad mount in place and relocating the module lower down if possible. Also the battery measurements for the Group 34 Optima batteries listed on the site list the size as follows:

Weight 37.9lbs.

Length 10.06inches

Height 7.88inches

Width 6.88inches

I may be wrong but it does not appear from the battery measurements that 2 group 34 batteries will fit as the battery length going in sideways to install 2 back to back exceeds the overall battery tray width liste as 9 7/8" when the battery is 10.06 inches. The group 25/35 measurements appears to be for a Single battery.

Other Double mounts are shown here .... https://artecindustries.3dcartstores.co ... _c_33.html

Maybe DAGKANA or Nate Price can clarify this or post a picture showing 2 Group 34 batteries just sitting in the second picture that was posted or verify the base of the battery is narrower and does indeed fit inside the 9 7/8" frame including the folded up sides that keep the battery held to prevent movement. Please clarify if anyone else sees something different, but it does not appear that will work for my H2 so will stick to what I have until I find a way to fit 2 batteries turned sideways that do fit in the 13 7/8 restricted length from the left side to the radiator.

They do look like very well designed battery mounts but the H2 is also very restricted for size as it appears for the H3, and the H1 is already set up for 2 batteries side by side.

Road Warrior I will fwd to Nate @ Artec industries, There are several other H2 owners that have already measured and said it would fit under their hood... I understand your concern, but these are no specifically made for any Hummer, if you are waiting for an OEM replacement you may be holding your breathe for quite along time... the aftermarket is not really there for Hummers, and I dont know when it ever will be, as of right now this is probably our best option and price is well within the range of being "cheap" for a good quality unit...

Here's another version that is already more expensive and bare bones on Jegs

http://www.jegs.com/i/Billet+Specialtie ... 0/10002/-1

Summitracing doesnt have anything for dual batteries that comes close to these...

Im not trying to make up your mind or anyone elses but for the $ these are a killer deal, and there isnt any "Hummer tax"

Just a quick follow up.... I went and took a few more daytime measurements and pics to confirm as i am very interested in this mount even if I have to redrill my own mounting holes below as that is not an issue.

I have also seen on the CHO forum that you and Nate have also discussed the trays and Nate clarified measurements being slightly smaller for the group 34 which is better definately for an H2.

This is what Artec listed in the other forum:

You'll want to do some measuring to check:

Group 34: Outside dimensions of mount: D: 10" x W: 14 3/4" x H: 8" (Height does not include terminal posts on battery).

Group 25/35: Outside dimensions of mount: D: 9 3/8" x W: 14 7/8" H: 8" (Height does not include terminal posts on battery).

I just realized the original post dimensions were wrong. These above are correct.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last edited by Artec; 09-30-2010 at 05:13 PM Reason: dimension change

If the battery tray measurement is as Nate listed in the other forum as the following to the outside of the mounting tabs for the top hold downs it may just fit with the optima batteries being rounded at the top corners to clear the rad mount as shown close up in my last pic and just clear the hose enough.

I like this battery tray very much and that is why I have looked very closely at what it would take to make it work. I don't mind at all making modifications for attaching the tray if indeed I can get it to fit. I would like to fit 2 of the biggest batteries possible, thus looking at the group 34 over the 25/35 model.

I just wanted all to know I am just verifying measurements and see clearly that this is a very nice looking battery tray that will ensure the batteries stay in place once installed. I like the design and would love to see one sitting even on the bench with 2 batteries sitting in place as the rad brace and hose are the only thing I see being a problem possibly as it can not be moved for obvios reasons.

I think it is a great idea and the Hummer Logo on top is a nice touch as well even if it is not seen much under the hood.
