T-Max repairs ?

Post by shotgun-cam »

Ok as the GTA guys know our T-max went inoperative this spring we found Just Jeeps would apply to Westin who bought out T-Max for a replacement of our bad control box. This required removing the box from the truck. Not easy without pulling off the bumper how ever it can be done and was . The control box and a copy of National 4x4's bill (they no longer deal with T-Max or Westin) are now at Just Jeeps we will report on what happens

How old was the control box??

Normally it would only be a 1 year warranty on the solenoids.

I think even Superwinch only gives a 3 year warranty on the solenoids and to my knowledge that is the longest in the industry.

My Solenoid failed on my T-max after 4 years of abuse and it was caused by a crack in the lower part of the housing due to me not being careful when respooling the line in the dark on the trail from hell!!

I bought a new solenoid for about $100 and everything is working great again.

Just curious!

Our unit died due to bad sealing on the control box and bad paint ( it actually peeled off like paper) on opening box interior was full of white powder. The unit was installed Aug 08 and failed prior to May gathering. We spent the summer trying to get the thing serviced as National 4x4 would do nothing about it. We Thank the guys at Just Jeeps for trying.

We recieved back our control box. It appears not to have been touched and without any papper work Just Jeeps has now disadvowed T-Max and as soon as they clear inventory Westin.

Oh our T-max uses two solinoids one in one out. We will mount a new winch on front and if possible repair the T-max as a spare( possibly a rear removable unit).

Our Thanks to the parts guys at Just Jeeps Ron

Every Winch has 2 solenoids, one for in and one for out, however they are always one piece since you can't have one without the other.

Since your winch works well, why not just upgrade your solenoid to the MileMarker M.I.F.I. unit, it is sealed for underwater use, allows variable line speed and even gives you an on/off switch...pretty cool eh! And it can be installed on all winches regardless of brand...just not integrated solenoid winches.

Check It Out!!! http://www.milemarker.com/mifi/

new winch is in Truck awaiting some place warm to do exchange then T-max will go on my electronics bench and I WILL find out what exactly is wrong. It would have been nice if Westin had checked unit and sent atleast a cost for repairs.
