Weird Codes coming up in the truck

Post by dwaxman1 »

Okay I have some gremlins now for sure...have the following issues now magically. .Image

  • Cruise control just started to work (nothing changed or fixed)Image
  • Check engine light on.. throwing codes P01214 and once and awhile P0216 (both seem to be Fuel Injector Timing Offset) what the hell is this Image
  • And also P0223, seems to be throttle (Gas pedal is screwed maybe.. odd this happens...Image
anyways these all just started out of the blue... need some help.. been searching all over.. seen different things from need a new injector pump to just need to run some Fuel additive and Fuel injector cleaner...

anyone?? anyone??Image

Truck is at Phil's and I really want to bring it home soon...Image

A bit more History.....

Truck has been running fine.. fueled up on Friday at the Husky and didn't drive it much, drove maybe a total of 20kms after the fill up and then it seems to started to throw bad codes..maybe a Fuel issue??

Just a thought...

Since all the codes relate to tdc and timing, could be the injection pump timing off.

My thought would be to test the truck with another computer as all these codes have a possible pcm replace diagnosis and they seem too weird to just come up all at once.

Lets see what Phil comes up with in the end. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... rgreen.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

You got to lie to the computer. You are trouble shooting a chev pu or van body

Derek, disconnect ALL BATTERY TERMINALS and then touch only the main positive and negative cables together and hold them together for at least 30seconds. This will reset the computer if any unfounded codes were set. If the codes come back then we will go from there!

Btw, make sure that all your connections are solid and that includes ALL your grounds on the block and your connections on the starter!!

Hope This Helps!

Thanks Roy, I will give that a try. I had my transmission light coming on a few times. I took it into a really good local transmission shop and they changed the filter and cleaned it out. They found that aftermarket shift solenoids had been used and the brackets for them are not as strong as factory ones (I looked at them and had to agree)one of the brackets was bent and the solenoid was pulling out. I had them put in two new OEM ones and the truck is shifting better, and the light is off. I am still interested what codes may still be lingering inside the truck!

Phil has a great SnapOn one but I know it is really pricey..

For just ready codes.. I just have one from Canadian Tire.. it seems fine and reads the codes..We have used it on my 96 H1, Markus's 99 H1, and multiple other trucks and cars...always worked..
