Etest

Post by dizzy »

Considering picking up a hummer h1 after I sell my truck and was wondering if the diesel trucks still require passing the drive clean test here in Ontario. If so, do you guys have any problems passing? Maybe a silly question but I have never owned a diesel vehicle. Thanks guys

Because its over 4500kg Gross, it needs to do a truck test.

The way this happens, really depends on where you go and how modern their equipment is.

The test I had to go through was a couple of rpm smoke tests, and the truck passed no problems. This is intended for cube vans and other larger vehicles, and the test is pretty lenient.

I have a straight pipe, no CAT, and the truck is tuned.. I had no problems passing.

I really would not worry about it.

As long as you go to a smaller city for the testing, you can get it tested as a passenger vehicle where it is a 2 speed idle test in the parking lot. The place I go to does not even get out of their chair.Just hand over the money. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... lleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I had to go to a truck testing facility like Tom mentioned. Some say that the test is bad for the 6.5L TD engine. I didn't have a problem. How ever I am going to to Roy's town and have it done there.

That shouldn't have happened. Someone is not doing there job right, and if you ever get pulled over by MTO you will lose your plates. Smaller city's have nothing to do with it. I had my test done in New Hamburg at a much smaller town than Stratford. The MTO states that anything with a Gross Vehicle weight of 4500kg or over needs a etest done at a truck facility that does cube vans etc. It could very well be that the facility you went to is still using the 2 speed idle test for trucks instead of the newer computer driven test.

All along the H1's have not had the exact terms to be classed.

Over the 4500kg but not used as commercial...

Not really used to hall cargo and is primarily a family passenger vehicle.

Even a 2 speed idle test, in the light duty diesel vehicle, is a visual test anyway. Whose eye is in charge of that test, how much is a little smoke.... blue , grey or white ....

If we were all GREEN, then some of us should replace the "T" pipe.

If I get a mailing address ,say in Seaforth, no e test is required. Now what kind of bs is that.I guess they only want to get the big city tycoons with the money grab and not farm like boys.

SO MUCH TRUE - drive clean is a pure money grab...I am in car business and ist making me mad when i have to e-test 2011 with 7000 kms ... MTO has their way of scanning mileage and getting proper odometer records , nothing but profits...i can justify why people in muskoka has no issue with e-tests but south and gta has to chip coins every year. Tom is right you gotta go to comercial e-test facility and its actually almost 90 tokens test. however the guy who tested my hum said he feels guilty to charge so much and knocked price down.
