I am looking to buy a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado 4x4 with the 3.5 inline 5 engine, which I believe is the same one found in some H3's. It has 260,000 kms on it. I was wondering if these tend to have any common problems that I should look for? Are they good engines in general and are they the same as the H3 3.5 engines? I have read some places that they are known to have head gasket issues...is this very common? Do they burn oil? How is the transmission in these vehicles (I am looking at an automatic)?
Thanks

Re: GM 3.5 Inline 5 engine
The only thing I have heard of as being a common problem with the 3.5L is the cylinder head.
Here is an ongoing thread for H3 owners dealing with that problem:

GM changed the engine from the 3.5L to the updated 3.7L in all 2007 models of the H3 and Colorado, it has increased torque, horsepower and fuel economy.

I have a 2007 with the 3.7, no problems, only thing I wish is that I waited for the Alpha. I will get one yet
