Re: Used H3
I do not believe they have a lower value here in Canada, my H2 came from New York....fuel prices do more to the value I believe, unless you have a Southern Truck that would have not seen Salt or snow...

Re: Used H3
Seems like a good price, if it's in good shape with no accidents etc. My H3 is an American vehicle as well so there's really no problem getting one that was originally sold south of the border, just check out the history before you buy. You'll find a lot of them were originally rental vehicles, some people don't mind and others would never buy a previous rental vehicle so just something to think about. A Carfax will tell you if it was registered as a rental at any time.
Keep in mind that the prices on these tend to vary quite a bit based upon the options, and this one looks like a base model. I'd still say it looks like a good deal, but don't be surprised to find people asking an extra $5000+ for a vehicle same year/mileage if it's got the leather interior, big stereo or the off road options (bigger tires, lower geared transfer case and rear locker). Since there's not too many H3s on the market at any given time I find the dealers (here around Calgary anyway) will really move the price up for a vehicle with desirable options.
Hummers in the used market I think must be unique in how widely their prices vary, in Calgary for instance you can find a higher mileage H2 (since I have been shopping for a H2..) for 20-25k, and prices go from there up to about $70k!! Don't know any other vehicle that sells like that!!! Just a good example of the dealers getting a real premium for a low mile unit, or a unit with desirable options. All boils down to what you're looking for personally though so just find one that will make you happy!

Thanks for the info. Out of curiosity why are ex-rental vehicles from the US imported into Canada?

Re: Used H3
Well it all depends, in my case I wanted a 2010 alpha, adventure, trailer, cam, sunroof, etc etc etc,, could not find any in Canada since no such truck was build for north of the border, and it was one of the last made before the plan closed down permanently.
When I found it, I asked the dealer to bring it over. With the exchange money over par, it ended up costin me less than US $ asked.
My 2010 as been put in circulation nov 19 2010, bought by AVIS (that the incognito client at the time that had the last batch done) it had 4000 miles on it, and still under full GM waranty. Now I have a 2010 for MUCH less than new and the CDN price. With all the bells and whisles.
Ill say if you cant find what your looking for here, dont be affraid to go south of the border.

Re: Used H3
Yup for sure, Archngl is right. Also you can talk to a broker who specializes in searching for and buying American vehicles for the Canadian market. With the dollar so strong you can really save a ton of money, also you're able to find rare vehicles like the 2010 Alpha mentioned above! It'll be a loooong time before you see one of those for sale here in Canada if ever, being such a desirable model. I don't know about brokers in your area but they are definitely available for shoppers here in Calgary, so for a few bucks they can get you the vehicle you want without the work of importing it yourself, a good option for sure plus all the selection of the American market.
Happy hunting!
