New H2 Owner Needs Your Help!

Post by daviedynamite »

Hey everyone! I've been looking through the forums and I'm so glad to be a part of this site! Someone contacted me through a kijiji ad I had about the rear seat I was selling...

Anyways, I just bought a 2007 H2 a few months ago and I've hit a problem that some may laugh at, but I find insanely annoying. When I drive slow or fast... drive over a huge pothole or tiny crack in the road... the interior of my H2 squeaks, rattles, and creaks like crazy! Sometimes it's fine, other times it's like 100 new rattles come out to play. It's really hard for me to enjoy the ride now because it's all I hear. When I'm not moving and press the brake I get a huge rattle in my glove box and behind my gauges. Other things like door panels, center console, roof, trunk door windows always creak. The door panel that is installed surrounding the window buttons etc is broken and loose... it rattles a lot (to be expected). The dealer said they wouldn't ever be able to get that part!! So I don't know what to do about that problem.

If anyone has a single idea on how I can fix this problem so I can enjoy my new ride, I'd owe you a million! This is my dream truck and I need to get this all fixed up so I can get back to the enjoyment of it.

I know it seems trivial, but it gets bad.

Thanks so much!

The H2's have an inherint history of rattles. The glovebox shouldn't make any noise though so check and see iof there is anything in that that can roll or is metallic as the H2's tend to vibrate which can cause items in the glove box to vibrate. Behind the gauges should not make any noise though so not sure what to say there. before taking that apart - I'd get a small flashlight and look up behind the steering columne and see if there is anything loose.. My runroof also makes a small noise which I'll be greasing up when it's a bit warmer - I was told to lubrivate the seal and it will go away...

I get a loud noise in my roof panels when I go over a larger bump that I hate but can't track down. The moulding in the rear hatch also has a tendency to rattle which you can insert a rubber wedge which solves the problem..

For the door panel - check ebay!

But yes... H2's rattle...

Thanks Khamul, I figured it was an H2 "problem." The main rattles I can track, like the ones I listed... but the random little ones are the really annoying ones. Like door panels rubbing against each other. The center console in the back seat, something in my roof liner... It's crazy.

dwaxman, sorry about that. Basically, the main question is, is there anything I can do about the random rattles in the H2? Can I take it somewhere to get something put under the plastic type thing? I don't know... I'm just taking a shot here.

Thanks

you can try to install foam tape between the door panels and the door frame but it has to be a thin foam that will not cause other problems. even though rattles are normal it should still be a pleasant ride. have a look if the doors or dash has been removed and maybe it was not installed properly. i can sugest other remedies if you give me specfic problem areas if not i would be happy to look at it and maybe we can come up with a solution. thanks

MasterMechanic, that would be fantastic. I'm about an hour from Brampton, so that's no problem! I'd love for someone else to take a look at it and try and figure out where they're coming from because I get flustered lol

Don't get me wrong, I still love it and I would buy it again... I just want to lock this rattle thing down so I can not be distracted while I drive it.

Thanks

Steve should be able to help you out there,...

And yes, the noises are very very annoying - love the hummer but I've been tempted to go to a body shop so see if they can get rid of the ones that I can't!!

I've added a magnaflow muffler and performance cats so it makes it even worse!

I am not sure what you guys are talking about...my H2 doesn't have rattles. I have had squeaks and creaks but those where caused by excessively worn body mounts! Once I replaced them no more noises...just a wonderful solid ride!

Have the guys at master mechanic check those, very good chance they are the problem!
