How about that last weekend of the Stampede.

That works best for me as I am really slow during stampede for some reason..... too many people out drinking I guess...

So July 15th to 17th OR July 14th to 17th?

Lets get some input on this!

Once this is firmed up I will start to put together an itinerary complete with special interest stops and a poster to promote it.

It uses a day to get there so I'd say the 14th to make it worth while...

Leave then on the Sunday (Me anyways)

Here is a bunch of random stuff we can check out: Not all, but a few would be fun. Anybody want to add any? Any votes?

Bow valley Parkway

Banff Town

Banff Gondola

Lake Louise

Moraine Lake

Takakkaw Falls

Giant Ceadar Boardwalk

Skunk Cabbage Boardwalk

Revelstoke Dam

Revelstoke Railyway Museum

Leland Pub in Nakusp

Cherryville Emporium

Shuswap Falls

Copper Mountain

How many of you guys have been to Takakkaw Falls? It is just before Field about 7km down this rather ridiculous paved but narrow road that that even has a set of switchbacks small cliff on it! I love the drive, but getting back to the falls themselves, they are the second highest in Western Canada and very scenic. Nice park and camp area in general, I hiked the Iceline trail a few years ago there. I think it would make a nice stop for lunch.

Last chance to get your input!

I will be starting a new official thread next week with a full itinerary

This is how it breaks down right now: I figured I would jam in all the sight seeing stuff early on while we are clean and not tired... going back will be a straight burn to the Alberta border.

Thursday, July 14th

Meet in Cochrane @ Tims around 8:30am

Breakfast & Gas, then roll out at 9:00am

-Take highway 40 out of Cochrane, turn onto Trans-Canada just past Ghost lake

Arrive in Banff at 10:30am for bathroom breaks, gas and coffee

-Depart at 11:00am

-Take Highway 1, turn right just before Field to Takakakaw Falls

Arrive at Takakakaw Falls at ~12:30pm

Stop for lunch at picnic table site at base of falls <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' />

-Depart at 2:00pm

-Take Highway 1 to Revelstoke (30 min. Gas/Bathroom stop in Golden at Husky)

Arrive at Revelstoke at 5:00pm

Eat Dinner, Check out Railway Museum

-Depart Revelstoke at 8:00pm

-Take highway 23 to Shelter Bay

-Take ferry from Shelter bay to Galena Bay

-Arrive Nakusp at 10:30pm – 11:00pm

Check into hotel

Friday July 15th

Meet up at 5:00am for breakfast

-Depart at 6:00am

-Drive to Fauquier (pronounced Folk-Queer)

-Take ferry to Needles (not really a town)

-Take Vernon/Slocan highway 6

-Arrive Vernon at 9:30am

Break for gas

-Depart Vernon at 10:00am

-Take highway 97 to Kelowna

-pass through Kelowna, no stop

-Turn off at highway 97c (just before Peachland)

-Drive to Princeton

-Arrive at Princeton at 12:30pm

Gas up, Lunch break

Depart Princeton at 1:30pm

-Take highway 3 down to Wipsaw

-Arrive at Wipsaw trailhead at 2:00pm

Forge ahead for 3 hours, we should arrive at the lake site around 5:00pm… perfect place for camping I am told

Saturday July 15th

Get up whenever & do the rest of Wipsaw!! Approximately 5 hours if at a slow place of trails to complete the loop once past the lake (or so I am told).

Once out, we can check into a hotel in Princeton to get cleaned up and rested and do dinner. Copper mountain is also nearby if we get our early enough for lunch.

Sunday July 15th

Depending on how the group is feeling we can do a straight burn back on highway 1, or we can take the border route, or return on the same route we came out on

That sounds good to me. I have the girls booked into a camp that week so I am all set now!

When I was planning it would have been nice to put us in Princeton by the first day, but that isn't really possible without just doing a mindless burn down there.

On the second day if we don't get an early start we take the risk if we get delayed for any reason of arriving at the lake at sun down and setting up camp in the dark.

We could also look at just taking out time on the second day, then staying at a hotel in Princeton instead. Then doing the entire trail in one day (we will need about 6 to 8 hours depending on our pace)
