New Gauges

Post by dwaxman1 »

Has anyone installed extra gauges in their truck? if so where did you locate them? I am looking to install a EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature) Gauge and a Boost gauge, looking for ideas on where to install, I think I can remove the Analog clock and install one there but.......I am still left with one.. and ideas or photos of what you have done? Any one install a pillar pod?

Any suggestions and photos would be great.

I yanked the CD changer out, relocated the AC controls there, then installed 3 gauges where the AC controls used to be.

I have a Temp gauge installed with a multipole multiposition rotary switch for diff and tcase temp. A oil pressure gauge that is going to measure pressure one the output of the bypass filter assemply, and the controller for my water\meth injections which is a 2" gauge and doubles as a boost gauge.

I am also installing a 3" EGT probably at the base of the center windshield pillar or some where along the dash.

My interior is ripped to pieces right now, cause I had to redo the turbo orings and am installing my new injectors and bodylift, otherwise I would send pics...

3" EGT??? Why? Save the space and get a electronic unit that beeps when you hit a certain EGT.

I agree, a 3" egt guage is overkill. Rather than doubling your Water/Meth injection guage with a boost guage, why not run this to cover your egt & boost monitoring, and use a dedicated W/M controller/guage?

sorry its not 3" its a 2 3/8" EGT i just measured it, but it is a triple gauge shows egt on the main dial and boost and temp digitally below.

I got a really good deal on it (all most free) so i figure ill give it a try, I am also running a scangaugeII so I am going to compare the accuracy of it to the factory sensors, for boost and temp.

I am using the CMGS water\meth controller, which displays either boost or EGT and indicates flowrate as boost or temps start to rise.

I wanted the EGT up higher and a bit more in the line of sight, so I dont have to look down at it all the time.

this is the 3 in 1:

and this is the water\meth controller

I'm not sure about the quality or accuracy of the glowshift stuff, but the unit seems well made and came with everything need to install it.

I have the same Meth Controller, if you get a EGT 5V converter (amplifier) you can show EGT's on that gauge. When I install in the next couple of days, my Controller will only inject meth under certain EGT and Boost conditions.
