Newbie Spare Tire Question

Post by ethelwulf »

OK this question is probably going to seem very stooopid to anyone with decent Hummer H1 knowledge. I am only cutting my teeth on the wonderful world of H1's. I have four 17" Cepek aluminum rims with the exposed CTIS hoses.

I want to get a full size spare and was wondering will I have to buy CTIS lines for the spare or how does it have to be outfitted? What do I need to know about getting a trail ready full size spare? <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ey-013.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wtf:' />

Technically, no you neednt worry about the CTIS lines if the spare will only be used as a spare to get you home/off the trail/out of harms way/etc. However, ideally, you will want to put your spare into rotation when rotating your tires, so if you go this route, yes you will need the fittings for CTIS if you want to run it for an extended period of time.

rtcepek on the HML/Hummer Network is actually THE Richard (Dick) Cepek who's company made those wheels, and he can advise you as to which fittings specifically you will need, although there are a few other H1 outfitters that can do the same. Good luck!
