^$#^!&#^*&!@#$%!@ Hummer is dead!
New starter and nuffin so that was obviously not the issue - out of my league now so I'll have to flat bed it over to E-Mortal next week when they have time...
Freak me!!!
Ha!! Figured it out! It's the alternator! So now I have a spare starter in case anyone needs one and I have to pick up a new alternator tomorrow. The battery is brand new so that narrows it down. my guage says it's charging though which is odd - fell below normal only briefly which is why I had ruled that out....

Hmm bizarre... at least you got it narrowed down! Alternator should be an easier swap than the starter eh?!

A least know how to change a starter now...
I already have the alternator out but wanna compare prices tomorrow as bowness auto was 350 and wanna see what nappa offers.

Woah, I totally missed this thread... your Hummer died!?!
That mud sure kills GM alternators, I have been getting in the habit of just dousing mine with water after running through mud holes or at the end of the day.

I don't know about the H2, but the H3 starter looks like a breeze; it is mounted under the transmission with no obstructions!

Re: Alberta June Trail Run
Nope - it's dead.
Something wrong with the charging system and its not the alternator... all connections are fine from what I can see, new battery, alternator and it's still not charging so it's beyond me. I take it is Wednesday to E-Mortal for testing.
There must be a dead control module somewhere that won't be found until it's put on the scanner.
I'll get my CB put in at the same time... may as well.....

Yeah - that what I don't get - it will run fine, but simply won't charge the battery and even the gauge is well below normal...

So strange.. Must be like a regulator or something, but I thought normally those were actually built into the alternator? Emortal will take care of the beasty though!

Re: Alberta June Trail Run
Ugh, I searched online and found someone that went through this and it was the PCM.... I don 't want to even imagine how much that will be let alone how long it would take to get it.
If that's the case - I won't go through shaw and be subject to their mark-up. I've ordered parts from the dealer in Montanna that actually ships to Canada as I guess alot of people do this, and get it sent up Fed Ex and it will still be cheaper and here in under week instead of 3-4 weeks...

Re: Alberta June Trail Run
Nice thing about the GMs though.. that 6.2 has been in everything from Hummers to pickup trucks to Corvettes so I'd say those parts should be on hand somewhere near by! I think they're $400ish for a PCM so shouldn't be TOOO too bad. When I needed parts for the H3 I went to Shaganappi Chev and they always came in cheaper than Shaw and the parts were here quicker to boot! Still sucks though..
