Hey everyone, it's been awhile since I posted last... but I have 2 quick questions about rust I'm hoping you can help me with.
1) The rust that is on the underside of the H2... the chassis... etc, can that be removed and painted over with this product http://www.magnetpaints.com/underbody.asp ? Does it really work? Does anyone know where I can go to get this done?
2) There is a bit of rust on the metal piece underneath the rear bumper. Is that piece able to get powder-coated or sandblasted and painted again?
I'll be calling Steve from Master Mechanic next week to hopefully deal with some other issues I've been meaning to deal with... It's bothering me so i figured I'd ask here before I speak with him next week.
Thanks in advance!
Have a great weekend!

Ted Nugent for life ! As for your question . There is allot of automotive anti rust paint on the market you can get . That will do the job . If you can , Post some pics of what you think are trouble area's . Sand blasting , and power coating sounds a bit aggressive . Post some pics of your concerned areas and let the Members see . There is alot of very knowledgeable and talented peolple on here . Also what year is your RIG ? Year is important .

Re: Rust Issues
haha Ted Nugent is great! lol Well, I'll snap some pics tomorrow. I'm not sure how bad it is because I haven't seen it on a lift. I'm sure it's typical "Hummer underbody rust" but id rather take care of it asap. As far as the pieces under the bumpers go, ill snap some pics of those as well. But how would you go about repairing a rust spot on that metal piece under the latch for the rear tire carrier?
Its a 2007 H2.
Thanks so much!

I'd be thinking something like... wire wheel or abrasive disc on a dremel to remove the paint and rust, then over top again with whatever coating you like best!

Re: Rust Issues
Agreed with JL . As per Undercarriage . Post pics and you will get allot off feed back . Remember every HUMMER gets the surface rust on the weld seams and drive shafts . Just rust prof her . Let dry for a month or so . Put it in the air . Get some automotive antirust paint . Just start dabbing away on the areas that bother you . This a cheap and affective way to get the desired affect i beleave you are looking for . IMO . Get the pics up , and some guys will give step by step remadies to fix her up . <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' />

Re: Rust Issues
I just posted a complete process that I do and did on my 05 H2...
I suggest you line-x or powder coat both you front and rear bumper and also your brush guard, if it is black.. these will all rust from the environment.
as for the chassis.. clean it up, and I would paint it with some primer or high heat engine paint, then blast it with rubberized rocker panel protector, you will need to check this regularly but the paint is cheap, crappy tire has it on sale once in awhile and you can buy a case. one cane will do you both side, I also do my rear diff and exposed parts at the back and front in the wheel wells. you need to just touch up the spots from time to time but this is a quick fix and looks great, I have done this for years and also did it to my H1... I love the clean quick look...
good luck! and yes please post some pics...
