Cold Air Intake

In the market for a cold air intake system.  Any recommendations or suggestions are more than welcome. We are the proud owners of a 2003 H2.  On the rebound from an airbag system malfunction, replacing the bags for heavy duty coil springs ( WOW!! Nice Ridin')<DIV>Thanks in advance</DIV>

Hello,<DIV>Sorry I don't have an answer to this, we just purchased a 2003 H2 ourselves. I was looking at a K and N, but then when looking under the hood, the factory air intake goes to the side fender with an inlet there, and when the hood is closed, is very restrictive.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Also the engine compartment itself seems rather warm that it looks tough to get a cold air intake, to actually suck some cold air.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>I too would be very interested into seeing what others have done.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>The reason I was looking at K and N was because their waranty impressed me, having to use it recently on another truck I had.</DIV>

Hey guys, I can make several recommendations as I have a 2003 H2 as well and have installed and tested several systems with mixed results.<DIV> </DIV><DIV>First it is important to decide what is your priority, is it mileage, is it power, and do you plan on going thru rivers/lakes where your intake may be in danger due to exposure.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>For mileage the best system I have used so far is the Airmax system for Street and performance electronics. It really woke up the engine and made a major increase to mileage close to 4mpg from my testing. I combined this with a throttle body spacer and was very impressed with the results.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>I recently changed out the system though due to the trails that I am running lately as there are several possible crossings close to or above 3ft deep, so I needed a system that better protected my intake. I reinstalled the factory airbox but with a True Flow filter and installed a Airaid modular intake tube. I still run my throttle body spacer and I am very pleased with the set-up, I still manage a 2mpg increase over stock and at least now the deep rivers don't scare me as much.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>I have never had any problems with the MAF sensor with either system as a result of the oil soaked filters and will be installing a Granatelli High Flow MAF soon, with new ecm Calibration. I run between 13L / 100km to 10L / 100km on the highway at speed limit due to these and other modifications so who says Hummers can't get good mileage!</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>BTW, I run 37x13.50 R17 Toyo OpenCountry M/Ts and I get mileage like that!!!</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Hope this helps you guys out!</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Kevin</DIV>
