Well guys ive been on the hunt for a nice SS exhaust system for the H1, and its been a pretty interesting journey. In a nutshell there really isnt much choice out there, and what is avalable is big $$$ for something i think is relatively simple to fab up for our application. Our exhaust system doesnt really have the funky twists and turns that most cars on the road today have. But due to the limited demand for our applications large exhaust system manufacturers have shyed away from creating bolt on systems
I was really looking for something that would be a turbo-back to get a bit more grunt out of the truck and hear that sweet turbo whine. 2 weeks ago i stoped by MBRP in Huntsville (a very popular aftermarket exhaust manufactuer)to see what they could do for my truck. I was looking for something in a 4"+ range. A year ago i saw a MBRP system on a H1 in the local GM parking lot, and it looked sweet! Ive been wanting to go to MBRP to get a resonator delete done on my car as well, so i thought this would be a geat time to get some pricing. Well I waitied around for one of their sale guys to talk to me, and i asked him, and in a nutshell he said he couldnt do anything for me, they just didnt feel like doing it right now.?? i was like, you guys already have the program for the bender for that other H1 you did, what would it be for you to bend one up, and ill weld the tabs and hangers and such on it. Nope he said. i was thinking wow a place that specializes in custom exhaust is refusing work?. After that disapointing outing. The internet hunt began.
Preditor had something, but the price was out of wack, SS diesel supply had something resonably priced, but it was just coated steel, not Stainless. And that is about all the choice you got.
Yesterday, I happened to sumble across a place in Nevada that had a slick looking 4" SS system and also sold the cat-bypass that matched as well. I send them an email, and they sent me some pics of it installed. Tell me what you all think.?
I just sent them a reply seeing if we can setup a group buy if anyone else is interested in a system (is that cool Derek?). It will help on shipping costs with multiple items. They also got some heavy duty ball joints, idler arms, and sway bars if that helps anyone.
The pricing on their site for their exhaust system is $504, and the "offroad pipe" cat-delete is $187. But ill ask them if its current.
Just thought this might help a few that have been wanting a SS exhaust but just been waiting for a reason to get one. Ordering one off items here and there from the US can be a pain.
I am thinking a cool 5" or 6" polished tip would look awesome as well!

What is the name of the company?
Do they have any sound clips of the exhaust on a TD truck?

They are called ORUVA. http://www.uorva.com/products.html
They dont have any clips on their site from what i can see, but ill email and ask.
In the pics you can see that it has a muffler on it. I asked if they sell a version without it (like a straight pipe) but they dont, it is however removeable, i was looking for a straight thru system anyways. After looking at it, i could probably fab up a 90deg stainless joint, or just gut the muffler and re tig weld the cap back on the end

Re: Stainless Exhaust
Ok guys i got a bit more info on them.
They unfortunetly dont have a sound clip, but do say that they are a bit more louder then stock, but mainly you hear a fair bit more turbo whine.
Also they will give us a good deal on a group buy when we order 4 or more systems, and a even better deal if we order 10 or more.
I definitely want a set for myself, all we need is 3 more people onboard, and we will get a better deal, and they can ship it freight and help save a bit on shipping too.

Re: Stainless Exhaust
i just did the exhaust on mine, I got the stainless cat delete pipe from Rubberduck and then had a local Carline muffler shop make up a section from the end of it and bring it out infront of the wheel well, so its wide open all the way back, they used 304SS I think. with the 3" body lift on my truck it tucks up nicely and doenst hang down below the framerails
I really dont think going up to a 4" pipe on a 6.5TD will gain you much, since you cant push the boost much past 13psi without a huge amount of engine work first. 4" is for the cummins and dmaxs pushing +30psi of boost and spraying water\meth.
the truck sounds absolutely wicked with the straight pipe exhaust, but its a bit noisy on the drivers side with it exiting infront of the wheel well. I didnt like the way the loop thru the wheel well looked after the bodylift.

Re: Stainless Exhaust
From the looks of it, its 3" to the muffler, and 4" out of the muffler for looks.
I agree with you on the minimal performance gain from a 3-4" upgrade. Most of the restriction on these engines have to do with the header design into the turbo, and not having an intercooler doesnt help at all.
Im not really looking for any performance improvement, just want it to hear that turbo, and have a nice hefty stack out the side

Re: Stainless Exhaust
I thought i would give a update on the exhaust. Last week i went down to springfield missouri for a buisness thing, and while i was down there i got a whole slew of hummer goodies, one of them being the stainless Uorva exhaust system. (cat delete, muffer, and pipe)
My pops and i just finished installing it today, it was a bit of fun to take the old exhaust off, but the end result was well worth it. I took some before and after vids so you can all hear what the difference is like. And ill post up a complete install writeup.
Overall performance increase is noticable, and the sound will suit about 80% of what people are looking for. Just enough turbo whistle, and deep rumble, without being obnoxious at crusing speed
There was a dyno test from another member on the HML network for a similar exhaust system, and just the muffler change (no cat delete) netted him around +28hp and +30ft-lbs of torque. I didnt have the access to do a dyno before/after, but there was a bit of a added umph at takeoff
Well see how she stands up during the week with normal driving, and keep everyone updated. Ill start a new thread with lots of pics and a compairison vid.
All thats left now is a nice tip. Im hunting for a short 4" to 6" ss tip

Re: Stainless Exhaust
Nice Im eager to see/hear clips of it. I have been interested in this exhaust, as it maintains a muffler (local vehicle inspection unit here is rather... aggressive), so it would save me that hassle.
