Great idea Kevin... I will for sure do that!! I also had a P0300 too, guess my O2 sensors didn't like all that water either.. this has long since cleared, a good rip on the road took care of that...
Kevin, if you have a photo, that would be a big help of your MOD...
and as for the boat ramp... that is a excellent idea...you know we are gonna have Hummers in the water everywhere from now on!

Here is the only link I could find that would allow me to show the document without $$$$
http://www.justanswer.com/uploads/SKeel ... _knock.pdf
The document doesn't include H2 specifically but our engines are part of it. It also doesn't mention the removal of the 2 pieces of foam, but due to my experience at GM, this eliminates any future problems!
Hope this helps!

with 5.7L Engine (VIN G -- RPO LS1)
1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe
2002 Chevrolet Avalance
1999-2002 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL

LQ9, LQ4)
This bulletin is being revised to add Cadillac Escalade and Cadillac Escalade EXT to the
Models. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 02-06-04-023 (Section 6 --
Engine/Propulsion System).
Condition
Some customers may comment on a mild to severe engine ping (commonly referred to as spark
knock), usually worse during acceleration and/or an illuminated MIL. Upon investigation, the
technician may find DTC P0332 set.
Cause
This condition may be the result of corrosion of the rear bank knock sensor due to water
intrusion into the sensor cavity. This condition is more apparent on vehicles in which customers
frequently wash the engine compartment.
Correction
Replace the rear bank knock sensor and build a dam (wall) around the sensor using RTV to
divert water away from the sensor. Use the procedure and part number listed below.
Remove the intake manifold. Refer to the Intake Manifold Replacement procedure in the
Engine Controls sub-section of the appropriate Service Manual.
•

Remove the wiring harness assembly from • the knock sensor.
• Remove the rear bank knock sensor.
• Install the new rear bank knock sensor.
Tighten
Tighten the knock sensor to 20 Nm(15 lb ft).
• Install the wiring harness assembly to the knock sensor.
Document ID: 893793 Page 2 of 3
http://gsi.xw.gm.com/si/showDoc.do?docS ... 93&from=sm 4/19/2009
Apply a bead of RTV silicone sealant approximately 9 mm (3/8 in) wide and 6 mm (1/4 in)
high along the outside edge of the ridge on the engine block valley cover around the rear
bank knock sensor. DO NOT form a complete circle. Leave the rear section open as shown.
•
From the underside of the intake manifold, completely remove the rear intake manifold
seal (foam material).
•
Install the intake manifold. Refer to the Intake Manifold Replacement procedure in the
Engine Controls sub-section of the appropriate Service Manual.

Mud is something that is easily contended with. The only trouble I had was coming down the 400 with it being unlit, my mirrors muddy and my windows muddy changing lanes was a challenge. Windows down, rock and roll back and forth looking for headlights; signal on, inch over to the lane I want and wait to hear horns if anyone was there!
I stopped at my mechanics about something I talked to him on friday about and they surprised me with a wash!
I will have to give it a good once over on the weekend but the majority was all taken care of for me!

i spent $15 at the car wash. Needed more but the change machine was broken. I still have to pull all the grass and weeds out from under the truck and in the suspension, and wash the engine compartment. otherwise it is almost back to being my street queen. Not complaining though, haven't had that much fun in a long time.

Okay guys you all talk about washing the engine, this is new and uncharted territory for me. I lift the hood and is there some secret way I should be doing this like the club's secret dance and handshake? Is there something I should avoid spraying? Cause quite frankly as much as I love my mechanics, I really dont want to spend that much time with them

Don't look at me...I would love to leave it dirty all the time, to avoid any electrical issues.. but my mechanic complains sometimes, thanks Steve...so I will not advise...I would say... leave it dirty!

Re: Fall colors run 2011 aftermath ! Lol , anyone ?
Avoid spraying too much water on the fuse block (drivers side), make sure the cover is on! As Kevin has said, the H2's have a known issue with the Knock Sensors getting wet and corroding. These are in the top center of the engine, under the intake manifold. If you haven't replaced them and followed the bulliten to resolve the issue, also avoid spraying water there. I would also avoid hi pressure spraying of the alternator and air conditioning pump. Other than that you should be pretty safe.
It doesn't have to be spotless under there (if you want it that way, get it professionally shampood and put it in a garage, permanately ), just get the grit and mud out ... until next time!
