Puzzled

Post by Montana »

It doesnt take much to puzzle me since I am absolutely not mechanically inclined what so ever. Now that may come as a surprise to some of you I know and I dont mean to disillusion anyone by letting out the truth! Yet I am left perplexed.

I have been having the odd day when there is no power to my vehicle what so ever. Yet touch the jumper cables to her and she fires up as if there was nothing wrong. So yesterday morning, I drive her to work, park, shut her off but I can hear something humming. I put my hand on the back seat as I take out my briefcase and the vibration gave it away. I think great I have located the issue, the air suspension motor is singing to me! Off I go to the mechanics. They discover that the air suspension motor has shifted or I think that is what they tell me and they reposition it for me no issue. They tell me my battery is real weak and I could stand a new one, so I buy her that new gift. I think all is well with the world.

On route home, I go to put on the tunes so I can bless the world with me singing down the road and lo and behold! No sound! I think okay I will call them when I get home. I park her all safe and sound in her cozy underground spot, get out and when that handy dandy trick of opening the door and the stereo screen goes out doesnt work, I am thinking...Damn! its not going to start for me in the morning. So I leave it to glow in the dark for the night since the mechanic shop is closed.

I toss, I turn thinking, okay so I give it a jump in the morning and take it back to the shop. Yet she fired right up for me. Their electical guy isnt in today so they lend me a power jumper thingy! (yes I know you are all in awe of my technical terminology!) so that if she doesnt start I can take care of things without having to find a friend LOL.

So the puzzle now exists I hope you all feel challenged! Is there some weird ass trick to when you put in a new battery that you have to reset the stereo or something all Get Smart gadget kind of thing???

Some car stereo's have an anti-theft system installed and when you do anything to it you need to re-program the code into it. But I have no clue if the H2 came with that feature.

Did you check your fuses? Perhaps there is a seperate amp for the stereo, that regardless of the deck lighting up, will affect/impede sound-output if blown?

Sounds like you have a short or had a short somewhere.

What about your battery and/or grounding connections? Are they all good and solid, with no corrosion, and snug? (not just hand snug, but tool-snug)

The H2s did come with this feature but only on the Navigation/Radio units.

I would say start by disconnecting your battery again. Both terminals. then hold the cables in contact together for 1min. this will reset every computer on board. Sometimes when batteries go too low, computers pick up all shorts of weird things due to the voltage spikes when trying to crank with a dead battery. Once you have done this re-enter your code and everything should work fine.

Keep us posted!

PS; How did you knock your air suspension compressor out of alignment so that it would run continually?? <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I have been very hard on my H2 and never managed to do that!

Hello all, its me again! Let the bells ring and the banners fly but I am here! Took the truck back to mechanics this morning. I think they want me to take an office there and work with them! Anyway I explained my dilemma all over again and left it there and carried on to work. By three in the afternoon, I got nervous cause they havent called me yet.

Reluctantly I call them. They tease me of course. Then tell me it just had a hiccup. My heart slows down a few paces and my purse stops cringing.

I go to pick it up when I finish at the office. Apparently they just unhooked the battery and rehooked it up and tada! works again! For the record Kev, it is a radio/navigation unit. As for knocking out the air compressor motor....well lets just say I am Mad Max's twin sister, the evil one of course LOL. Not quite as evil as Yaser, man that guy is wild!

Thanks for all the suggestions gentlemen, much appreciated.

*kisses*
