Your glow plugs do not require maintenance too often. HOWEVER, take them out and anti-seize them every 2 years. If you do not, they seize in the block and when you break the heads off...be pre-paired to take the heads off to get them out.

problem is nobody deals with that until they have hard starting issus
or check engine light (99 & newer)
how is the can of worms doing
1 head off or 2
engine in or out
I know of 3 or 4 trucks that sooner or later will need the heads removed
good luck with that job.

So far the glow plug job that I was working on has one less glow plug till we decide how far to go.At that time, we will see if the body comes off or the motor out. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... adbang.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':headbang:' />

LOL Great advice 5 years too late. I had mine done a few years back and the shop broke off the number 1 plug and it has been that way ever since. Its the hardest one to get to.I am working out a way to weld a nut on the top of the broken plug. So far i have taken a 3/8 nut and bored it out to fit snug over the top of the broken glow plug.I had to bevel the edge of the nut so it would not contact the head when welding. Next step is to try and weld the nut on with my mig welder. I haven't done it yet cause im nervous LOL.
