Tire pressure monitoring system issue

Hi, according to the label on the door jam, the cold tire pressure for the 2008 H2 is 42 psi.



If your cold tire has a pressure of 42 psi then why do I get a warning saying that the tire pressure is low ?



After I inflated the tire to around 48 psi, the warning is still there....or do I need to inflate it even higher ?



Is there a reset button that you have to push after you inflate the tire ?



Any thoughts ?

there is a procedure to reset the pressure monitor, in the manual ,I found it hard to follow ,but i found out that unplugging the battery for a while and reconnecting it the tire pressure monitor reset itself to the tire pressure and didnt light up again. that was for my H3, ,it might be the same for the H2. worth a try.



if it doesnt solve the problem you might have a defective sensor .

I would say The TPMS is melfuntioning . That's way to much air in your tires . I am surprised the play card on the H2 is even 42 PSI . Put your air pressure down to the play card settings of 42 PSI . You can go another 2 psi higher if you wish ? No harm to the tires . Then reset like Arch said . If it returns you have a sensor issue .

Okay we had the left front sensor failed due to dead battery the fix was to replace sensor and reprogram truck on H3's it's done by turning the light switch back and forth till truck's horn sounds then change pressure in tires as instructed on ditty board above odometer.



Dealers will overpressure tires in colder weather by up to 5 psi.
