Hi, for the H2, on the door jam, it says that the cold tire pressure is: 42 psi.
But on the tire it says: 50 psi cold tire pressure ( BF Goodrich All Terrain ).
Any thoughts ?
Thank you.
Which tire pressure is correct ?

Re: Which tire pressure is correct ?
On every tire sidewall that I have ever looked at the manufacturer has stamped the MAX tire pressure. I don't think that I have ever seen recommended inflation pressures on a sidewall before. If you are running stock tires , or same size as stock, they always recommend using the door placard pressures.
It's hard to find reliable information on other than stock sizes because 1) Vehicle manufacturer is always going to recommend using stock equipment as that is the original design, and 2) after market tire manufacturers would have to make recommendations for every style and size they make to work on every possible vehicle you might want to put them on, because of differing curb weights, load ratings, handling characteristics and on and on. Just too many variables to make a blanket recommendation.

Re: Which tire pressure is correct ?
that's exactly it - it depends on if you have stock tires or not.
each manufacturer has their own limits and it is best it go by the tire manufacturers guidelines if you do not have the stock BFG at's any more. For example I run BFG KM2's and the max pressure is 50. I don't reccomend running at the max, thus I have mine at 42 psi. (36 in the winter)
Before these I had Procomps and their max was 60 so I ran at 50....
hope that helps!

Re: Which tire pressure is correct ?
Tire pressure on stock sized tires on H3's on oem p265/75r16 is on the door however our H3 is running on Lt285/75r16's and the tire pressure is reduced to 30 psi or about 5 pounds less. so it depends on the tire size as well as the vehicle weight. Tires will wear differently for low or high pressure centre wear for high and edge wear for too low. Ride and gas milage will also be effected.
