H1 anti theft device?

Post by rex »

What is the best security system for our H1 especially for the soft top models? Steering wheel locks? Ignition kill switch? Or alarm system? What do you guys have in your truck?

Let them take it, and claim it back yourself or with the authorities later. The more you stop them & put obstacles in the way, the more likely they are to damage other stuff in the process.

Theyre not always going to steal it by driving it away. If they want it, especially given the fact that it is typically a loud diesel truck, they'll slap some skates (plastic sliders) under the tires, and use a flat deck and haul it away. Rendering the steering wheel, or absence of, a moot point.

the fact is, if they want it they will go for it regardless of what you do.

like everything we drive, the parts are worth more than the truck itself, up to 30% more!! when sold out.

Just because I drive a HUMMER don't mean I don't care about the planet.... in fact it means I can get to most parts without any help!
(try that in your prius)

If you have a MOMO steering wheel in your truck then this is what you need to make it removable.

On my old Jeep I installed a kill switch for the starter and hid that at an undisclosed secure location within the truck. Truck also had the factory alarm, but those are usually easily bypassed. So that's one option for you. Real easy to do, and the parts only cost a few dollars. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... n_cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Guy - just cuz they cant drive it away, doesnt mean they cant nor wont take it. There are a tonne of sketchbag tow-truck drivers out there, they'll flat deck it away if they need/want to. Chances are if theyre just breaking it, theyre breaking in to steal something inside the truck (be it a deck, valuables like sunglasses or other items left inside in view, etc), if they want the truck, theyre taking the truck, whether it starts or not.

Just make it as hard as possible just to leave with it under 30 sec. most thief will leave with your H under 30 sec, if they cant to it under this time the truck will mostly stay there.

Leave it in well lit place

use hand brake

crank wheel towards sidewalk

don't leave truck unlock

have alarm, and /or window break sensor

don't leave valuable in sight

break in as Hesh stated are mostly for valuable in sight.

once they are inside your vehicle, in a dark place they have all the time needed to highjack it, jump start or other.
