Im sure a few of you have been following the stainless exhaust thread below that started with the hunt for a nice stainless system to upgrade on the truck. With minimal assistance from MBRP (local), and the outrageous prices for systems in the US and trying to get them shipped here. I had ultimately set my target on a system manufactured by a small H1 parts manufacturer called Urova located in Reno NV, they make a few specialized goodies for the H1 such as upgraded suspension components and various other upgrades. The price was right, but the shipping to get it here was crazy, just like anything else us canucks try to get sent up here After trying to setup a group by, folks were wondering what it sounded like before taking the plunge, and that kinda put the halt on the buy until we heard what it sounded like. There were no other install threads, videos, or sound clips for the system out there; alot of people didn’t even know there was a alternative next to the rubber duck and predator stainless exhaust kit.
So 6 months fly by, and a week ago i went down to the US for a week for a business trip; i thought "a great opportunity to get some hummer goodies"
I had all my parts shipped to my hotel. The hotel person thought i was just one of those crazy canadians. I had the room full of Hutchison bead locks and exhaust pipes
I ordered the kit with the cad delete pipe. Overall it looked to be a nicely finished kit, the polished stainless added to the eye candy. One thing to note though is that the pipe part that exits the exhaust and routes through the fender well is not a mandrel bent system, it uses welded sections, although this can take away from the clean lines of a exhaust system, the welds look nice, are nicely polished, and overall not a eyesore. The system is all T304 grade ss.
After getting back home, i didn’t spare a second to install it. After taking a few vids of the stock system, install began.
If you can take your old exhaust off without having to cut any bolts; all the power to you . Mine wasn’t the case. Although my truck is relatively rust free underneath, with is higher mileage, the exhaust bolts didn’t want to co-operate. Out came the plasma cutter, and off came the bolts. I was able to remove the entire exhaust without damaging any part of the original system just in case i wanted to put it back to sock.
Install was pretty straight forward, its a 2 person job though. One to hold, one to tighten. I passed the cat delete pipe through the opening by the T-case relatively easy (removal of the stock pipe will probably require you to loosen the hanger bracket above as its in the way to pass the pipe thru). Just snug the bolts until you get everything in place.
Remove the hanger bracket in the front of the wheel well that supports the muffler and pipe; then install the new hanger with the kit off the bolt that holds the CTIS T up above.
Fandangle the new fender portion of the pipe into the wheel well, and attach the original factory mount tab, and slide it into the rear rubber mount.
With someone holding the muffler, install it onto the cat delete pipe, then at the same time, fit the fender well pipe into the muffler.
After that, install the 2 4" clamps, one of them holds the pipe into the muffler, and the 2nd goes around the hanger. Im not a super fan of the 4" clamps, or how they stick below, but they should work ok for now untill i come across a slimmer clamp or think of a different way of positioning them.
Snug up the bolts with a impact, check for clearances and positioning. Then start-r-up!
Don’t forget to reinstall the hanger bracket that’s above the T-case. i bought new 3" ss clamps because the old ones were toast. I also wrapped the hanger with exhaust wrap so i could avoid any steel on stainless contact and rubbing.
I will post up a vid as soon as i finish editing it.
So far for a week of driving i have noticed that the turbo whine is "significantly" noticeable between 500-1350 rpm, and dies off any higher then that. 1300-2100 sounds pretty normal under regular acceleration. When you really put your foot into it, you can hear a more significant "grrrrr" but its not obnoxiously loud. When the window is closed, its pretty much business is normal, not much of a noticeable increase in noise inside the cabin.
I mentioned in the other thread that there is a noticeable increase in power... Not 4 wheel burnout power lol, but it most definitely had a bit more oomph on takeoff. And yesterday i went for a bit of a drive, and it seemed to glide up the hills with a slight reduction in throttle input, and really want to fly going down a hill
A member on the HML installed a 4" SS diesel cat back straight pipe (without a cat delete, did a before and after dyno, and saw an increase of 25hp and 35ft-lbs of torque. Dyno test attached.
Looking closely at the Urova muffler, i can say that the muffler section looks to be very free flowing and should offer minimal back pressure. The urova is 3" to the muffler, then 4" out the muffler. I would say that with the removal of the cat, but installation of the muffler, you should be in the same range of performance as the SS diesel pipe, if not slightly better.
Overall well see how it holds up for miles to come, and how the weather treats it.

awesome tread indeed, i would install it too but so far happy with existing pipe, i cant justify the need of it unless there is a long wait desire to have stainless, i moded too many atvs and sleds with custom pipes and got sick of exaust upgrades, but if my exhaust will become due there is definate stainless replacement

Ok! i took some time today and quickly editied the video.
Hey Derek, is there a way to attach a 20mb video file? ill try and make it smaller. its about 5 min long.
Heres a vid my friend took, he insisted that i drive over a curb, i couldnt say no. Our town has a excessive compulsive curb disorder, so we all hate curbs

20 MB is a bit much...you can post links to different sites that allow you to upload and store it there...like YouTube...
