I was just looking at a 350acre managed forest lot near Haliburton on the weekend.
Maybe the CHC should buy something like that and get involved in the eco challenge to raise awareness ,create property equity and have a place to drive around lightly, counting trees and taking care of a valuable assett of nature and at the same time improving our reputation with tree huggers everywhere. LOL
Not very expensive in my opinion and you can get a 75 percent property tax break.
For example under the plan 367 acres the tax is 640 per year with a purchase price under 300k!!!
There are hundreds of large properties for sale up north. Most people don't want them because they are too big and come with some eco responsibility under federal law and that scares off developers but makes for low purchase price!!!
I say we start our own "save a forest" endeavor/campain and raise money as a group, get a grant, buy a forest to call our own and take care of it and show the tree huggers how its done. This is also profitable in a number of ways.
I would actually quit my day job LOL.
Create a third tier membership of the CHC for those who are interested in purchasing prefered shares in the property or proposed property. Could be set up non profit but for profit is better. Small corp stuff really and well within the members reach collectivly.

Is it all forest? Like would trees have to be removed to make trails and things, near or on a lake by chance? The reason I ask about the trails, is unless we have a connection, that can get real expensive before we can even start using it. In the managed forest i was speaking of there are several small lakes/swamps and numerous hunting/atv trails. This is just one of many i am looking at. Lot B is the property my wife and i may purchase. The large lot is the managed forest.

So I guess the big question would be, how many CHC members would fit into the property, and how many bedroom building are you going to put there...
