Karl, just so you know the note that was left was from all of us... however they made me write it, so I signed Brian's name as a bit of a joke (which I guess isn't that funny once Brian got the bad news). Anyway, we all wanted to make sure you knew we were out, and also to make sure we heard back once you came out too.

Nice job on that video Nick!

Thanks for the note... it was a really nice gesture. I still don't know how I missed you guys... bet we passed withing a hundred yards of each other more than once! I found the trail system you all were on, even a quader out there in his truck who lived down in the town we staged from. He was on hi way up and had not seen any Hummers so I knew you hadn't gone all the way down yet...I actually think you guys went towards the plane crash after the first quad bridge (so you turned right at the Y) and that was when I took a left to explore up that hill to the left....on the way back I hung a left and then went up towards the plane crash.

Hit a LOT of snow and made it through a particularly deep section but the snow just kept on going so I decided to turn around. On the way back through that deep snow I got stuck and there was one good tree out front to winch on to but it was like 2 feet too far for my winch!!! So I used two trees on each side of the trail... it didn't help much. I just got deeper and deeper but finally got far enough forward to latch on tothat good tree out in front. As soon as I started winching my damn winch line snapped! Probly cuz I was too deep in the snow.... The buggy is still up that trail lol. It was a good walk back...I kept thinking about bears though....took about an hour I think. I'm looking forward to meeting a couple guys from Lethbridge out there next weekend now Supposed to be really warm all week, so doubt it'll be an issue getting her out.

I appreciated meeting everyone and had an awesome day!!!

Well, that definitely didn't go as expected for me anyways.... Hopefully we can do another trip down there again.... See the plane next run..

Dropped the truck off at e-mortal yesterday so hopefully this bill won't be tooooooo bad but my hopes aren't high, I hope I have her back for the long weekend.... Image

So I hear there were some disappearances?? That's not kewl and a little upsetting so maybe future runs are hummer club only! I would say Karl would still be included as his was totally unexpected! But the jeeps taking off is not how we do runs.... My tHoughts anyways...

Anyways, my brief day was still fun and my arms are a little stronger now for some reason... And H2 with manual steering.... That was fun!

Really glad to hear you made it back safe buddy. Kelton and I really missed you guys out there!

I found out after we got home we should have went up the "Forestry Trunk road" just north of Coleman as there are tons of trails and Boggs all along the road.

Dave mentioned this early on - possibly at Tim's - and I also did a little later. Not trying to say the driving we DID wasn't cool either! I like exploring, but hate all the stopping and waiting every km or two. Last time Dave and I were out there, we drove practically non-stop for a good 6 hours....Wish i knew the area better and could have been a better guide. So that will be my new mission...need to get out there a lot more this year and scout out some good truck trails

BTW... found the website made for this area and Waiporous and in between:

Hey Karl if you need a hand getting going to get your buggy let me know. It was a great first time out for me. Great bunch of guys. But I would really like it if as a group we could stick together better. I have 2 way radios at work that we might be able to use. They are big $$$ so I would need to get them back at the end of each run for sure, but then everyone could have a radio. At the end of the day we are all out there to have a good time, and I think we can all agree that a good time doesn't include breaking down or getting stuck and being left to the bears. What's that 3 musketeers saying?

Thank you VERY much for that offer!!! (love this group! Dave offered already too!!) But I just got off the phone with one of the guys listed as a contact for the Quad Squad and he said he'd grab another buddy and the four of us on 2 quads with winched will head up there tomorrow for a rescue run!!! Thanks again guys....and I'll fill you in tomorrow night I hope.

After speaking today to the shop I bought the buggy from, I learned the winch line most likely did not snap (it is after all rated for 15,000 lbs) but simply unravelled since I was almost at its entire length limit when I finally got it on that tree I needed!! So anyways...thats good news. I'll just have to wind it back on when I get up there and we dig it out of the snow.

He is probably right, the only thing holding the line on is a little screw once you get to the end. They say you need a full 6 wraps around the drum to get the full development strenthg of the line. I marked mine at 8 wraps with some tape so I know how far out it is.
