Need HELP again..My 2008 stalled after started up?

Post by alnfong »

Hi there!Any idea what happened to my 2008 H2??I was driving it all day long today. And went to the gas station to fill her up(ESSO 91).After that I went home, until maybe a few hours later.I need to go to the bank.So I started her up,it stalled after a few sec...And I tried again, this time was okay until I put her in Reverse, just got out from my drive way,it stalled again?? And the third try was okay, then I just took her for a drive, everything seems normal again??!Now,I'm just worried because I just bought this on 4th June.Less than a month??And my old car(2004 Nissan 350z)never stall on me once...Just so worried now!!If this truck gonna last for 5yrs or not?? (that's how long I finance it for)

Any idea what happened? Is that a common issue?Again,my H2 is 2008 and it has about 65000km.And the only mod that I had is the MAGNAFLOW cat back exhaust(installed about a week ago).Thank you in advance guys!!!

PS.Happy Canada day!!!!

check your battery cables, one of the side posts might be loose, I had that exact issue and it was an easy fix..don't over tighten it as it will strip.. I know..

If it has just started to stall since you installed the new exhaust system, I'd recommend that you get it professionally tuned. MGS Custom tuned my H2 after I made some changes to mine and it runs great now! MGS Custom charges a one time, lifetime fee for the tune, about $500. They modified the computer mapping to compensate for K&N Intake, Headers, exhaust, larger tires and lower gearing. The result, awesome!

I have never had an issue like this, but one thing I would say is watch your charging system... I am on my 4th alternator and not all abuse I think, I may look at changing my PCM soon as it controls your alternator. Doesnt sound like the issue but it is with mine and may be common...

I do not reccomend getting an engine tune as the dealer will have the right to void your warranty. If you had a new muffler installed, it doesn't really need a tune after just that. I have new cats along with a new magnaflow as well and that parts runs great...

As Derek said, check your battery, connections around your mass air flow sensor and if all good... Have dealer look at as may be an electrical demon as you should be getting an error code popping up... Maybe check the main engine fuse under the hood and make sure it is tight....

Unfortunately GM installed way to many electrical components so it seems like a lot of demons appear from time to time...

I agree with Khamul, don't go anywhere but your GM Dealer if your truck is under warranty! They will fix it right or at least be able to tell you what is wrong. They have the equipment to tune the truck properly to factory specs.

I went with a MGS Custom tune only because of the extreme modifications that I made, outside of the warranty period. They specialize in LS1 tuning and where recommended my Polar Bear ... so I couldn't go wrong.

Thanks Tanky and Khamul .I actually took my h2 to the Master Mechanic, both Steve and Jeff were pretty cool and professional .Steve actually hooked my h2 up with the computer and ran some kinda test for me .And he also drove it for a bit.He said that it could be just a odd thing that happened. And everything came back normal. And since than,my truck is running fine again!!! .I guess I'll just keep my eyes on it,if it occur again,I'll just bring it back to Steve and Jeff.(since I can claim my extended warranty through them )

Thanks again for all input guys!!!!You guys R SUPER helpful!!!

PS.Khamul,what's PCM??

The PCM is the power control module...

There are several control modules and this is the cheaper of them....
