To know what though. I've been thinking about this for a while. You can get cheap trucks, complete starting at 40,000. I didn't want to burst their bubble but they said they set the price based on what Alpha sales were doing and how they were holding their value. I still think their price point is too high for the C series. Yes, I realize you're getting a "brand new" truck, but I just don't see that high a value with no doors, locks, radio, etc. I dunno, thoughts? I was really excited too, and still am, but I think a lot more guys would just rather buy a civi for 50 k and add lockers, lights, tires, and still come out cheaper. How many people are actually going to buy brand new drive trains? That's just more cost to add.

Re: The Am General NEW Humvee C-Series
I hear you Drew....it is tough but I think there will still be enough interest in a brand new truck.. and we will see all the details and build specs once the launch it.. I believe they are taking all the notes and comments we gave them seriously and maybe, just maybe you will see some changes.. this is a horse of a different color and gives the people flexibility to have what ever engine and transmission they want.. many guys and company are offering and doing conversions.. well instead of butchering a truck.. here is you option to have it prefect from the beginning..there are options.. I believe the first 50 units will go pretty fast.. and maybe as time moves on, we will see changes in the builds/Kits..I believe Am General is listening to it's customer base and willing to make some business cases based on what their customers are asking for..I also believe that this Kit is more for the Offroading/adventure guys then the mall cruisers.. so lots of opportunity there too..anyways time will tell.. I am very interested and super excited still..I am also still looking for a spot to sign up..

I know EXACTLY what i want my combo to be <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... rgreen.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
5.9 24v cummins, alliston 1000 6sp, MP2225 t-case, front and rear e-lockers, with a 5th wheel hitch in the back bed. Plus its already a soft top. Perfect fun/towing combo <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' />
Then go on from there with bolt on goodies <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... rgreen.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> And its brand spankin NEW!

Re: The Am General NEW Humvee C-Series
My dad was lookin at buying a new diesel ram in the up commin years, but as soon as you get into the 3500 series your already at $65-70+k.
Finding a low milage 5.9, alliston 1000, the t-case, and whatever adapters need to fab up to make it work, should be around the 10k mark. Were always hunting for deals on stuff.
Then just find some steel shells, or x doors, and your at the same $ as a new Ram truck, however the big difference is, the Humvee will be unique, and a heck of alot funner.
That was the deciding factor for me before i bought my H1. (regular diesel pickup truck or unique over the top hummer) choice was easy for me <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... rgreen.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Re: The Am General NEW Humvee C-Series
I have to say that while I am excited at the prospect of the "C" series the costs mount up to fast. A few of my friends back home have built kit cars and it isn't much fun until the end result.
truck cost; $60,000, engine and transmission... call it $10,000, since most of us don't have the space or maybe the ability to put it all together - $3000, shipping; $3000 (just a guess but realistic) the additional stuff from AMG that we will all want; $10,000, paint job; $1500,
The vinyl doors aren't worth crap for our winters, or stopping A-holes from breaking in... so as Derek pointed out the ballpark price; 4 hard doors = $8000 and the soft top is probably not insulated so throw $1500 for a new one... throw in our own personal extras and we are already looking at close to a $100,000 kit car!!!
for that total, I would want a turn key truck............ just saying
If they want this to have a chance then I would suggest they drop the price for the soft top kit closer to the $50,000 (just below would be better) or do a "street legal" rolling chassis (just the engine and transmission to install) for the $60,000 tag. They would sell a lot more that way.
There is still the insurance cost.... anyone any idea on the "C" vs.. a standard H1??
