Disappointed with GM extended factory warranty

Post by WIBS »

I am disappointed with the extended factory warranty that I purchased from General Motors.

In order to get a peace of mind, I purchased the most comprehensive and complete warranty that I can get from General Motors, which is called : “Total Plus”

I have the impression that buying a warranty with a slogan of “ Total Plus “ means it is a complete warranty and plus more…..

But it seems that the warranty should be called “Not Complete “

It seems that I need to replace the oil cooler lines, even Steve over at Master Mechanic thought that this kind of issue should be covered by the Total Plus warranty but it turns out that when he called General Motors to get an approval for the warranty repair, it was rejected.

I really hate when a company sells a bumper to bumper or total plus warranty but it turns out that is not a total coverage warranty.

I think it is better to called it “ Warranty with limitation “, so that the consumers are well informed before making the warranty purchase that it is not a comprehensive warranty and that there are numerous parts that are not covered.

What is the point of buying a total plus warranty for more than two thousand dollars when you submit a claim they reject it, and when you submit another claim and they rejected again, and again.

I definitely understand your frustration, but I can tell you that Every Single manufacturer does the same crap! Even with Heavy Equipment! All warranty looks for is to cut claims, most requests are rejected and will always require a second request. I suggest you take loads of pictures before and after the repair and send it in...good chance it will pass. Extended warranties aren't worth the paper they are written on...there are always loop holes so they don't have to pay...this is the same for ALL manufactures...not just GM!

Sorry!

and not just for vehicles either, same goes for almost anything, they are strictly a cash grab, and rarely worth the paper they are written on. Even if it gets covered, it is usually months worth of fighting.

and as your "under warranty" they take five shop time visits and a month to get it somewhat right. Then another month to finally fix the real problem.
