When ever you do a transmission oil change you need to replace the filter. This will ensure that your pump all has a supply of clean and fresh oil and it also gives you a very good idea of the condition of your tranny. Since you have to remove your pan to be able to access the filter, you will be able to check and see, if you have any metal, etc in the base of the pan. In most cases you can catch something before it is too late. OR at least you can start budgeting if your oil looks like you are panning for gold!
Make sure to replace the seal for the new filter...very important, make sure to lube it with new oil prior to installing the new filter.
Also make sure to torque the pan bolts...this makes sure you have a good seal with no leaks!
Hope this helps,
Kev
