H1 Headlights

I have a 1999 H1. I am looking for some headlight options. I was told by the prior owner not to invest in the LED headlights yet because of snow. I've had a BMW and always liked to bright xenons. Has anyone here installed street legal HID lights? If so, what do you recommend?

Truck lite has made a 24v set of led lights with a heater wire in it to combat the icing issue. I'm just waiting for them to make them in 12v so I can get a pair.



They do make projector headlights. I have never seen them in person but I know Sub aka Serge has them on his rig. Here is what they look like:

While they do make them in 12v, they do not have the heater wire in them that the newest version has.

I just finished a 1 year project of retrofitting proper E55 mercedes projectors into the trucks 7" round housing. Our trucks factory sealed beam lights have got to be the worst headlights on a vehicle made in the last 30 years PERIOD! Once you drive a car with normal lights, or even better projectors, you will never go back to the pathetic sealed beam tractor lights <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... t-argh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':argh:' />



Before digging into this i has originaly looking at the style as posted above, but i dont personaly like the look of them. They stick out because of the space limitaitons that come with putting a deep projector housing into a somwhat shallow 6024 7" footprint.

I spent the time to make it work in a flush style bulb and having to extensively modify the headlight carrier and adjustment system, but now its all buttoned up. Works like it should



Currenty leds cant touch the lumens/Watt ratio that HID's have but they are slowly gettin there. But for best beam pattern HID is the way to go, its just the nature of the beast with its nice baffles and optics. The current high powered Led's though are becoming very impressive



If i was to do it agian, i would probably go the LED route, but only with the new current gen projector LED 7" housing lights that are showing up on the market.

The H4 7" housing roy is talking about is a good alternative and upgrade over the standard sealed beams without doing a hid kit. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' />



By all means, please dont put one of those PNP hid kits into a standard H4 retrofit "For standard driving" they easily blind on comming traffic, because reflector housing dont have a cutoff for the low beam .Now using a HID bulb in a regular housing for offroad, or for occasional extreme highbeam use GO NUTS! <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... rgreen.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':mrgreen:' /> i have 2 55w HID's for my front offroad lights, and 6 100W hid's on my roof rack and its like daytime when you turn them on, i love it!



So far these lights have been awesome, ive been enjoying them for the past 3 weeks with night driving and they are worth their weight on gold
