We all know that the H1s have amazing clearanc due to their independent front and rear suspension. The prototype H2 was supposed to have front and rear independent suspension...I really wish they would have done this...then us H2 guys would have excellent clearance just like an H1. Offroad I rarely get stuck due to my front suspension but frequently get stuck due to draging my rear diff. So I am working on some alternatives. Ideally if I could simply cut the tubes off my rear diff and then make a similar design to a Can AM Outlander ATV rear suspension...I could probably have a decent set-up. I have looked at swapping in a Unimog-style portal axle but I would rather not have something that complex. Dynatrac does have a Pro 60 IRS set-up that might work.
However I think this is going to be a long drawn out project....with tons of research, but I do feel the overall results would be worth it!

I first came across these guys several years ago. Very cool project, but not sure how many vehicles have actually been set up this way other than their own trucks.

Re: Idea to have H1 Like suspension on a H2
i remember the white cj7. His name is Gabby, he is a unimog mechanic from B.C. he showed up with this thing in carolina at the top truck challenge, i think it was #6 or #8. well he pretty much kicked everyones ass an won it all. i looked into it and it is really expensive in parts. i met a guy in peterborough who put a front ifs setup on the back of his 1989 nissan pathfinder. it worked well till he broke a tortion bar. but converting it to coil overs or airbags would solve that. geting a smashed h2 would be cheaper and stealing the front ifs setup would at least keep your creation all h2 and cheap to maintian. alot of cross overs now adays have an ifs rear with adjustable tierods inthe back incase you dont want rear stearing. the only problem the nissan guy had was he had to flip the diff in the rear up side down so it would turn the wheels the right way.and it put too much load on the wrong side of the ring gear and it would granade after a couple of months.

Sweet Truck! I hadn't seen these...amazing how everyone else in the world in rushing to copy the Hummer and GM didn't want to keep it...real dumb!
From a suspension standpoint...I still want a rear independent suspension instead of my solid axle set-up! I really wouldn't want to have a solid front and rear axles setup, I want to reduce unsprung weight!
Thanks Bro, Really Cool truck though!

Really love the concept with this independent suspension in the rear. Because not only the H2 get stuck by the diff, the 3's too.
Sometime wish i had unlimited funds and a BIG Garage

saw this and have wanted to modifie it for our suspension types. imagine bolting theses on with a set of 46" claws for the trails, and then taking them of and driving to work during the week.

sorry sent the same pic twice. here is the other one. they are hub add ons with an increased gear reduction.plus increases you ground clearance 13- 18". then add your tire of choice.
