Laurent:
You must be careful how you and the owner of a vehicle approach this.  Most owners are not insured for use of a vehicle for professional services; if a vehicle is damaged or anyone gets hurt then the owner would be in a lot of trouble.  So, if you can find someone in Montreal willing to "help out" it must either be done properly by the owner informing the insurance company and paying any special charges or done for free.  Same applies to renting a vehicle for movies.

This is correct. Special insurance must be carried when using a vehicle for commercial purpose ie making money. The coverage is not cheap either as the liabilities are high if something were to happen. Simply attending a car show/parade can and will void most peoples insurance and they are not aware of this. Also putting ads on your truck to advertize your business will void your insurance as well. You need a chaufeurs licence to carry passengers as well or claims will be denied. Off roading in 90 percent of cases is not covered under your standard auto plans and this is why organized events carry thier own insurance specific to the needs..
Example I did the port credit canada parade last year and they wanted to put kids in the back cargo area. When i informed my insurance company of the details they replied and said if i did the parade with kids in the back they would not be able to cover me. So,, no kids in the back!! In this case the parade insurance was covered by the town of port credit but they were not willing to insure the kids in the back either. What ever it is you do it is always worth checking with your policy to see if you are covered for what you are doing. Failure to do this can cost a ton and in some cases verge on criminal offences being commited. so Yes Beware!!
