Yeah, it's not good!!

Took my girls down to Dairy Queen in Bowness area and of course when we get there...police suddenly flooded the area and a chopper flew in announcing to evacuate the area.... Friggin scary man!! We are normally dessert like!!

Both highways heading west are closed. Bragg creek in completely under water... Sounds like high river ( town 30 mins south of calgary) may be a complete write off....

... It's bad!!

Thanks for checking up on us, sounds stupid but gunna get some supplies tomorrow as people always panic...

High river is gone! Entire city evacuated and is now underwater...

You can utube some videos.... This is almost biblical.....

Went to Walmart to get a few safety things.... They usually have stock piles of water.... All gone..

The entire city core is underwater, streets r now rivers.... This is insane....

This is bad. Much of downtown Calgary is flooded too.

I'm 53 and a native Calgarian - I've never seen it this bad.

There'll be a long recovery, we've lost a lot of infrastructure. Bridges, roads, water plants.... There's a lot that's gone.

The good news is the can do, get at it and get it done attitude Albertans have. We'll certainly need that in the months to come.

My thoughts are with those that have lost homes, and even their land.

This is the only time in the last 4 years that I've been glad to have moved back from Canmore to Lloydminster. Just heard from several friends still in Canmore that they are trapped there. Highway 1A is completely washed away in sections, Highway 1 east to/from Calgary has a large, 1+km long, section washed out entirely, Highway 1 going west to Banff is closed due to heavy landslides.

Keep high and dry everyone, and stock up.

OMG... We just went for a walk to a "controlled" area of the bridge over the river by Bowness Park...

I was almost in tears... It is unbelievable! Most of Bowness is under water in the lower areas... I could feel the bridge vibrating!! Bowness park is now part of the river and it's still rising!!

Uggg... finally got power back at 2:00am this morning. Been powering my sump pumps with a genny for 28 hours straight.

What a mess, that is all I can say. I bailed on work on Thursday at around 3:00pm after they announced my neighborhood was being evacuated... barely got back in before they road blocked it all off. We have a band of neighbors that all stayed so we could try to prevent water damage in our basements. Had to cart gasoline in by walking because they wouldn't let me in, not fun.
