Flooding in Toronto

Wow, what is it with you two and water coming into where it isn't supposed to be! First your truck, now your home... that sucks. I hope the insurance comes through quick for you, but you are right, they are going to be buuuzzzyyy!

I was out on lakeshore looking for stranded cars. The police blocked off most everything so it was hard to get to areas that needed help. I tried to get to potery road right by my place but the cops would not let me through. I watched stuff unfold from the top of the Bloor viaduct. It was bad on parts of lakeshore and the power was out making it hard to see stuff. I almost hit a stranded cop and that was the only car i pulled out. He had a gallon of water in the intake plenum LOL. We got her going.
I did see another H1 out on lakeshore and parklawn moving north.

Cops at Ontario and Lakeshore left us directing fire crew from disabled High Rise Support Unit and pumper truck to burning Rogers van . They saw that Rhino was having no problems with flooded road or the floating construction cones. 
The black H1t was not an H1 but a real Humvee . We invited them to the meet at NL .  
As for flooding we sit fairly high but area of Humber Blvd (Weston rd/ Black Creek) got heavy flooding in fact a Footbridge with an 8  ft high fence side has a large tree trunk on it and the fence has collapsed across the street is town homes.
As to how we got where we where as storm hit we were at Walmart Stockyards and ran down to Lakefront as flooding started.

 May I suggest having a back up valve installed cheap ones insert in floor drains and can be self installed. more expensive are one installed on main household drain and require digging and a plumber to install. Also plywood and heavy objects placed over drain can slow the water entry. We were lucky in our basement stayed dry and the power stayed  on just the wired phone lines got  soaked when manhole flooded.

I got about 2 inches of water in my shop but i have every thing off the floor on wheels so no damage other than it stinks a bit now.

Rhino is a registered Zombie Hunter also We got re hit on Friday with 100mph + winds and more rain (shortlived ) some areas now look like tossed salads or large hedges of downed branches.
 
Also Rhino's rad ingested a large amount of mud ,pine needles, etc causing some overheating in extreme heat. Several power washings in various directions and dissassembly , a coolant flush, thermostat replacement,an engine check and finally a 13" pusher aux fan haved been done.

That describes our city right now. We had about an hour of that wind, rain and thunderstorms.

The foot bridge I mentioned earlier over Black Creek has been totally removed as has been loads of small rocks located at Weston Rd and Black Creek. Bridge was a concrete beam and bed construction with 8ft chain link fence walls as well as standard metal railings. Fence caught a tree and other floating junk. and was hung over the downstream side.
