Need tires for winter, plus locker question for H1

As some of you know I run an off road tour in Ontario and this will be my first full winter going at it. Ran a bit at the end of last winter but not enough to get a feel for it. Here's the deal. I ran chains last year and they worked fine off road but they limited my own road use drastically and I plan to be using it a bit on road this winter too. I currently have 37" MTR's on the truck but they are getting a bit worn, will be fine for next summer but not sure how they will do this winter.
 
What tires are recommended for winter use, mainly trail but some road use. I have CTIS so I need something that can be aired down as well. I'd like to get a set of winters mounted on rims and a set of summers on rims too and just swap over when the seasons warrant it.
 
Also next question, which do you think would work better?
 
- new winters(with or without studs) and front and rear lockers.
 
OR
 
- chains on 1/2 worn MTR's with no lockers
 
 
I plan on running the trail every time it snows anyway to keep the tracks visible so that will help as well.
 
I could leave it as is but that means no road driving and buying myself a shuttle bus to get the passengers to the trail head. That seems like a waste of money that could be put into the Hummer, plus would turn into a pain in the a$$ getting people in and out of two different vehicles.
 
What are the preferred lockers to go with and the best place to buy them?

I am currently running cooper stt 12.5 37's on my deuce with eaton front are rear electronic lockers.. They are basically a toyo knock off and they cost alot less. Last winter I drove through ditches and into about 3 feet of snow without any issues....


Absolutely love these tires! I had BFG KM2's prior and they were not very good...

i woud reccoment 37'S TOYO AT's they very gentle on snow and soft

lockers are nice but have some issues.
Auburn do not always lock up, but are ready to install as a full diff assembly.
ARB air lockers need an extra air compressor with a small reserve tank.
Detroits are nice but not in the front.
Eaton are pricy. not sure how they work in the front.
 
Tires.......,Toyo town and country, MTR,MT,... all are okay but chains are the best for your application.

Got another set of MTR's for the winter, and a set of rims to mount them on as well. Going to try and run without chains for a bit until the snow gets really deep or the trail gets really icy, then I'll put the chains on it. Can't afford the lockers right now so maybe in the spring is the winter keeps me busy enough to put some cash aside.

I got a great set of good years 36's on 8 bolt rims 16.5 , let me know if you can use it for your business. the tires are almost new

I got a set of the 37" Toyo open country MT's
 
I absolutely love them, they work great in the snow. Not to bad on ice, but they are not a ice tire!
My truck has the 2pc beadlock Hutchisons with runflats, and the tires take low pressures with ease.
 
The only problem I am having with them, is that there is costmetic tread face cracking, but the rears were very mild I bought the truck but its just costmetic, they are a 10 ply tire so there should be nothing to worry about, ive done many hwy miles and its all been fine an dandy. The main cause of these cracks forming is because on my drive to work I have to drive over 4 stupid train tacks in each way. And train tracks beat the heck out of tires.
