Power steering is easy to fry on these trucks... usually the pump goes
As for the rack itself, I think the 2008+ models have fixed that issue. I've never had any problems with my rack and I have broken pretty much everything else at some point or another.

Re: The ALBERTA chat thread!
My p.s rack has a little wiggle maybe 5-10mm, I wouldn't mind one of the stiffening kits but looking at it doesn't seem like that big of an issue & unlike the guys over at CHO it's not my #1 priority, if it's not broke why fix it? However I'm certain I've blown the power steering if not at least a line, and I'm not sure what's bouncing around causing this thudding and thapping underneath.

I picked up on of the steering fix kits, and plan to install it this Friday/sat, my rack keep going out of alignment and has tonnes of slop in it so I figured it was time to correct the issue.... I'll let you know how I like it once its done!

Re: The ALBERTA chat thread!
I can see that, running 37's on 20" rims will throw the rack around quite a bit. Don't get me wrong it's on my list but if I do pull the trigger I'd like to fab up a center brace not just the passenger side brace like a lot of the manufacturers sell. It looks like the crossmember bushing is toast but I haven't been able to get under to check it out for sure, as well as I'm going to re torque the body mounts as they can shake loose. Unfortunately between throwing my back out and my truck breaking I still won't make the run thiis time, maybe June or July. I was offered a job back in Canmore so maybe by the summer it'll be an hour drive to meet up instead of 6-7hrs.

I had to remove my entire cross member for the lift, so I probably have one kicking around if you need it

Re: The ALBERTA chat thread!
There is a guy I bought a bushing from on another forum. Hunner he is, he made the extra mount as well. Made a thread about the whole thing. I haven't put the bushing in yet because of not much slop. Gonna do tie rods and everything else there, sway bar bushings, and control arms, ball joints. Then take in for alignment. Hope it holds out another few months yet.
As for what could be making noise rattling or chunking. I have read about crossmember bushing going. Some have replaced multiple times even. I dont think mine was wheeled much so it is OK of now..just a thought if out of ideas.

Try Outfitter Designs: <a href="http://www.outfitterdesign.com/hummer-h ... -kits.html </a>
They have HD tie rods, rack mounting kit, and a few other goodies for the H3.

I'm over on CHO and have seen O.D's kits though I'm leaning towards trying to track down Hunner and get one of his kits instead, has an extra center mount. While the huge O.D tie rods are nice I'd rather pay $200 for 16mm oem rods to replace ones that bend over a steering rack when the O.D rods don't have any give and the only weak spot left is the rack.

Hunner didn't have the kit. He sold me a steel bushing to replace rubber one. He used another Bracket and bushing , drilled frame and put two thatlook likeness side instead of one. I know they have the kits and all that, huge tie rods, bulletproof and makes you fly...... for a price. I am tapped for now but would upgrade when replacement is due for sure. Everything else has been so far.
