H2 FRONT END TORSION

Post by BRUTE »

Im looking at raising the front end of my H2 an additional 1-2". Ideally on the higher end of that scale.

i have already maxed out the height via adjusting the stock torsion key setting.

i need to raise the front end a bit more to accomodate the new rims and tires i installed this weekend.

i dont want to jack the truck up or do a lift, i just need some additional front end clearance without it costing an arm and a leg..

Any input is greatly appreciated.

If your torsion key is stock, can't you get those lift keys (I think called green keys)? I believe that can break the 2" mark.

You have a couple of choices;

1. You can keep you stock keys and install some new torsion bars rated for a higher load carrying capacity. Stock are 6750lbs, you could get all the way up to 9000lbs, but I would recommend near the 7200lbs capacity.

2. You could change only your keys to either the green keys or to a set of Maxx Keys that have multiple height settings.

3. You could install a set of Firestone/Bilstein Front air shocks.

4. You could install a front timbren bumpstop that would give you the same lift with a smooth ride.

Whichever way you choose to do it, I highly recommend changing your upper tables to Cognito since they will provide you with more down travel and allow you to have the proper suspension geometry and alignment.

Now , beside deciding which way to go, you have to set up some shop time. Mid to late Dec. is availible unless I bring in my trucks.

I've raised mine 3" with just the gm green keys (cranked 2"), 1" body lift and 2" rear coil spacers. Installed Cognito UCA and longer Bilstein 5100 shocks on all corners. Stuffed 38" MT tires.

Big Dub do you have a website link to the keys you mentioned ?

My primary goal is additional clearance to accomodate the clearance needed for the rim and tire combo thats currently on the vehicle.

The vehicle is not off roaded or on any trails so nothing extreme is needed.

I appreciate the answers and insight.

keep it coming.
