Do h1 have day time running lights?
I have to do a bc inspection, and told I need drl. I'm told after 1990 all cars/truck it came standard., I drive with full lights all the time anyways. Basicly I thought if didn't have drl then it's ok?

Re: DRL
Technically all Canadian H1 should have DRLs to be legal in Canada, it is a simple module you install under the dash. Give Roy a call he could most definitely hook you up with the right parts!

Re: DRL
I know the module can be purchased from crappy tire. They installed mine when I brought my truck in from Florida. I was told ALL Canadian vehicles must have it.

Re: DRL
Instead of a module, I got driving lights, I screwed to front bumper and wired to a relay , then to ignition power ....bam!I know the module can be purchased from crappy tire. They installed mine when I brought my truck in from Florida. I was told ALL Canadian vehicles must have it.
This way I leave factory wires alone,
Only thing left for my safety is "sadly" remove window tint for driver side and pass side,
And install rear rotors/pads my garage already ordered , and rear callipers and axle seals I got from "crazy canack"mega fast I may add, then will be an official a bc'r

Re: DRL
We think alike! My DRLs on my H2 are a set of LEDs! I wired them with a diode so they work with the factory twilight sentinel or with a switch so I can trun them on at night also!

Re: DRL
AM General has a kit but I'm not sure if it's still in production.
When I get my new engine installed on my H1 I'm getting the DRL kit installed as well since I'm doing a few other odds and ends since I got the truck apart.

Re: DRL
You can build your own with a simple relay tapped into the headlight wiring near the headlight switch. That's what i did for less than 10 bucks. I also added a mini switch to my fuse panel door so i can disable the trigger voltage to the DRLs if needed for blackout driving. You should use at least a 50 ohm resistor on the coil trigger so it doesn't get hot and burn out. It doesn't take a lot of power to trip and hold the relay.
On the H1 the headlights are wired direct to the switch with no relay which i find odd. You have to splice into the red and white wires from the headlight switch. I forget which one is power but that is why they make voltage meters LOL. Use the power to the headlight switch to trigger the relay and buss pin 30 to the headlight wire so when you key the truck to the run position the DRLs come on. You will not have the time start delay or dimming resistor with this setup like the AMG drl part does. but that wont matter for certification. I believe the AMG part dims the DRLs by 35 percent by making use of a resistor. You can add one to the relay but its not really necessary and makes the circuit more complex to build as well.
Below is a pic of the resistor harness i made to go from the headlight switch to the relay. Im looking for other install pics as well. Note in the wiring pic i used yellow and brown wires to tap into the red and white from the headlight switch.

Re: DRL
The crappy tire version is okay, but after a bit of time the wires get burnt. I suggest the add on lights like you have done already.
