Winch Saver

    I won one of these at an off-road/charity function. It's the largest model, suitable for a Hummer winch.



This is a pretty good thing to have, as it serves as a safety weight when winching, and is easy to use; never forgotten.

what do you think of Champion Winches??

When you examine the data, a Champion it is NOT! While they are cheap, their construction is not up to par and their motors are not powerful, they may be fine for short pulls but not for extended pulls. Best recomendations either a T-max or a Milemarker Hydraulic or Electric, at least these will last for years of repeated abuse rather than days of mild use! Remember you do get what you pay for!!!



As for the winch saver you definitely need one as well, you should remember seeing it both on my winch and James' yesterday when we were winching.

  Rick, I neglected to reply to your post. Yes, the weight is sufficient, in my opinion.



  On the winch debate, you will find opinions that are strongly held for and against the MileMarker versus the Warn. I am going by my personal experience seeing Warns overheat or fail completely. If I had to do it again, I would put in a MileMarker.

I believe they are more reliable. And the US Armed Forces switched to them, did they not?



  Also, the advantage of not losing approach angle looms large.
